Ingredients
- Quick oats
- Apple butter
- Maple syrup
- Peanut butter
Quick oats: This recipe works best with quick oats, which are rolled oats that have been cut into smaller and thinner pieces. Quick oats will soften better and bind better for these cookies.
Apple butter: The cookie dough uses apple butter. Apple butter is a spread made from slowly cooking apples and turning it into a thick paste. It is not as watery as applesauce and has a more concentrated apple flavor. For this recipe I recommend using apple butter that is sweetened with apple juice and not added sugar. You can also use apple butter that includes spices if you prefer the flavor of Fall spices in your cookies. You can use homemade apple butter or store bought.
Maple syrup: A little maple syrup is used to sweeten the cookies and help bind the dough. It also helps to thicken the dough.
Peanut butter: Make sure to use natural peanut butter with no added oils. You can also use other natural nut butters like almond butter if you don’t want the taste of peanut butter in your cookies. Peanut butter helps bind the cookies and adds fat to the cookie dough.
How to Make No Bake Apple Oatmeal Cookies
- The apple butter, maple syrup and peanut butter are mixed together until evenly combined.
- Add in quick oats and mix until the oats are fully incorporated. The dough should be thick and stick together.
- Use a 1.5 tbsp cookie scoop to scoop the dough and release it onto your prepared cookie sheet.
- Flatten the dough with the palm of your hand into a round disk.
- Place the dough into the fridge for about 30-60 minutes to allow the cookies to firm up further. The cookies are then ready to eat.
Expert Tips
- This recipe works best with apple butter and not applesauce. Applesauce is more watery.
- If you don’t have quick oats and only have rolled oats, you can add rolled oats to a food processor and pulse them a few seconds until they become the size of quick oats.
- You can add some mix-ins like chopped nuts, dried fruit or mini chocolate chips.

4 Ingredient No Bake Apple Oatmeal Cookies
Ingredients
- 6 tbsp (102g) apple butter with no added sugar, see note before starting
- 1/4 cup (64g) natural peanut butter with no added oils, can use a different nut butter
- 1 tbsp maple syrup
- 1 cup (88g) quick oats
Instructions
- Line a baking sheet with parchment paper. Set aside.
- Add apple butter, peanut butter and maple syrup to a large mixing bowl. Mix with a spatula until evenly combined. Add in the quick oats and mix until evenly incorporated and the mixture is thick. You want the mixture to be thick enough that if you shape it into a thick disk, it will hold its form. Keep in mind that when the cookies are refrigerated they will dry and firm up slightly more but not that much. If your dough is too sticky or soft, add more oats, 1 tbsp at a time, until the dough is thick enough. You can also taste the dough and add a little more syrup or apple butter to suit personal preferences. If adding mix-ins, add them in now.
- Using a 1.5 tbsp cookie scoop, scoop cookie dough. Release dough ball onto the prepared cookie sheet. Press down on the dough ball with the palm of your hand until it forms a round disk, about 1/2 inch thick. Repeat with remaining dough. This will be the final shape of your cookies so smooth the edges and reshape as needed. I like to use the back of a metal spoon to round and smooth the edges.
- Place cookies into fridge for about 30-60 minutes to firm up a little more. The cookies will not change much but they will firm up slightly, making them easier to hold and eat. Store uneaten cookies in an airtight container in the fridge or freezer.
Notes
- The cookies are only very lightly sweetened. If you prefer sweeter cookies, I recommend adding mini chocolate chips or dried fruit. You can also add a little more maple syrup to the dough. If adding mix-ins, you can add about 2-3 tbsp of finely chopped mix-ins.
- Apple butter note: I used apple butter made with apples and apple juice concentrate, no other added sugar. You can also use one that includes spices if you prefer the flavor of Fall spices in the cookies. When measuring the apple butter, avoid scooping any excess liquid which sometimes float to the top of the apple butter jar. I used Eden Apple Butter.*

- Make sure your nut butter has no added oils. Nut butter with added oils will not set the same.
