These secret kiss cookies are buttery, soft, and have a hidden chocolate center. The cookies need just four ingredients and are easy to make. They are a fun cookie to eat and to bake for friends and family.
I love making cookies with interesting names, like these secret kiss cookies. On the outside, these look like your typical snowball-type cookie, but inside is a secret soft chocolate center because the cookie dough is wrapped around a chocolate kiss.
Ingredients
- All purpose flour
- Butter
- Powdered sugar
- Hershey’s kisses
All purpose flour: This recipe uses all purpose flour. I did test this with a few other flours and found all purpose flour to have the best texture for the cookie dough.
Butter: This recipe uses unsalted butter which needs to be softened to room temperature before using.
Powdered sugar: Powdered sugar is used to sweeten the cookies and also helps the cookies have a melt-in-your-mouth texture.
Hershey’s kisses: Any flavor of chocolate kisses will work. I used milk chocolate flavored ones.
What Are Secret Kiss Cookies
Secret kiss cookies are cookies that have a hidden Hershey’s kisses chocolate in the center. The outside dough can vary. I used one that is similar to a butter cookie dough.
How to Make Secret Kiss Cookies
The butter and sugar are first creamed together until light and fluffy. The flour is then added in until a dough forms. Take a heaping tablespoon of dough and place a chocolate kiss in the center and then wrap the dough around the chocolate and roll until you have a smooth dough ball. Place dough balls into the fridge for 15 minutes to firm up. The cookies are then ready to be baked. Dust the cookies with powdered sugar once they are cooled and before serving.

4 Ingredient Secret Kiss Cookies
Ingredients
- 1/2 cup (113 g) unsalted butter brought to room temperature
- 5 tbsp (38 g) powdered sugar plus additional for dusting
- 1 cup (126 g) all purpose flour
- 14 Hershey's chocolate kisses unwrapped
Instructions
- Line a large baking sheet with a silicone baking mat or parchment paper.
- In a large mixing bowl, add butter and sugar. Using the flat paddle attachment on the mixer, cream at highest speed until light and fluffy (this should only take about 1 minute). Make sure to stop and scrape the sides of your bowl a few times in between mixing to make sure all the sugar and butter gets mixed.
- Add in flour. Using the lowest speed (stir cycle on my stand mixer), mix the flour into the butter mixture just until a dough forms.
- Using a 1 tbsp cookie scoop, measure out 1 heaping tbsp of dough. Press a chocolate kiss into the center of the dough and then push and wrap the rest of the dough around the chocolate until it is fully covered. Roll the dough between your palms until you have a smooth round ball. Place onto prepared baking sheet. Repeat with remaining dough, spacing dough balls about 1 inch apart. Place dough balls into the fridge for 15 minutes to help them firm up. This will prevent the dough from spreading out too much during baking.
- While your dough is refrigerating, preheat oven to 350°F (177°C).
- Bake cookies for about 12 minutes or until the cookies are done. The cookies should stay pale. Remove cookies and let them cool on the cookie sheet. Once cooled, remove cookies and dust with powdered sugar before serving.
Notes
- Make sure to use powdered sugar that contains cornstarch.
- You can use any flavor for the chocolate kisses.
- You can easily double this recipe if you want to make more.
