Homemade fruit snacks are so easy to make with jello! You only need 2 ingredients and it only takes about ten minutes to make the syrup. Then you pour it into molds, let it set, and pop them out, and the fruit snacks are ready to eat.

I made my own fruit snacks and gummy candies recently and they were so ridiculously easy to make. I’m so excited at how well they turned out, and I already have about five billion variations I want to try after my initial successful stint.

I love how easy this recipe is. The fruit snacks are made with just two ingredients: jello and unflavored gelatin.

Homemade fruit snacks/gummy candy

Ingredients

  • Jello mix
  • Gelatin

Jello: You can use any flavor of jello that you like. I used cherry jello.

Gelatin: I have only tested this recipe with gelatin powder. I haven’t tried it with gelatin sheets.

You can use any silicone mold to make them. I used heart molds that I found on Amazon*. They worked really, really well. The silicone is very flexible and all the hearts popped out in one piece, even the little indent that is part of the heart pattern.

Recipe Steps

Add water to a saucepan and sprinkle the gelatin over the top. Heat the water and stir until the gelatin is dissolved. Mix in the jello mix.

Pour the mixture into the molds and let them sit until firm. You can leave them out at room temperature, and it will take about 30 minutes for them to set. Or you can put them in the refrigerator, and they’ll set faster.

Fruit Snacks with Jello Texture

When I first bit in, my initial thought was that this was just Jello but with a harder texture. But once you start chewing, it tastes just like a gummy candy or fruit snack!

As someone who eats and buys a lot of fruit snacks and gummy candies, I’m ridiculously happy to find out how easy it is to make my own. Now to buy some more cute silicon molds…
