The Pizza Studio Revisit
A few weeks ago, I was able to grab a quick lunch with CC. I suggested The Pizza Studio because she hadn’t yet tried it and I had really enjoyed my first visit.
Since it was the middle of the week and the restaurant is located close to many office buildings, the restaurant was super busy. But despite the crowd, we still went through the assembly line very quickly. Some of the other slower fast-casual pizza joints in San Diego should take note of The Pizza Studio’s efficient system.
I didn’t take any pictures of the interior since I already did for my first visit. Below are some photos from my first visit.
They took down our names with our orders and when the pizzas were ready they would walk around calling out the names. To my surprise, the gentleman who made our pizzas still remembered our names and directed the servers directly to us.

This was my creation. I previously tried the herb crust so this time I tried the traditional. I was happy to see that none of my toppings were burned, as some of the vegetables were burned on my first visit.
I really enjoyed my pizza. The toppings were plentiful, the crust was thin and chewy.

CC created a vegetarian pizza. Usually I like a lot of meat on my pizza but I was pleasantly surprised to find this very flavorful and I didn’t miss the meat at all.
I enjoyed our pizzas and was happy to see the restaurant still running smoothly even during its busiest hours. They also have a rewards program so you can earn free pizzas. This remains one of my favorite fast-casual pizza restaurant chains in San Diego. I really enjoy the topping variety and the choice of four flavors of crusts.
And of course, it was fun to share a meal with CC. She brought me quite a few food gifts from her recent trip which I’ll be sharing soon in another post.

Thanks for replying and clarifying for me. 🙂 since you don’t post your face on here, it is a good anonymous way of trying places they don’t have an idea you’re coming for.
Hi Kim- Yes that is one of the reasons why I don’t post face pics, because I do want to stay anonymous =) And with everyone taking pictures of their food these days, no one thinks anything of it if I snap a few of mine. And I always hide my camera in my purse when I’m done too.
@Kim – Since I was also there at the lunch, I can also vouch for the good service we received at Pizza Studio. Unlike Project Pie, where they write your name on the paper liner for your pizza pan, call out your name and expect you to pick it up, at Pizza Studio, they either called out your name or brought it to you. In our case, the worker had it brought over to us and I was happy I didn’t have to get up!
BTW, most of us foodbloggers do not ‘advertise’ that we are foodbloggers at all. Just wanted to mention that.
So they remembered you there? Do you ever feel like restaurant owners make things better for a customer when they realize its a blogger? Those toppings are plentiful. I’m just wondering if they put that much on or make every plate more nice because of who you are(and all the other places you’ve reviewed). =]
I think you misunderstood me. They didn’t remember me as a blogger. They have no idea I’m a blogger. I don’t ever tell restaurants I am because I am not looking for special treatment. The only time a restaurant knows is when I was invited there specifically. What I was saying in the post was that the guy preparing my pizza and CC’s pizza was good at remembering names and faces so he was able to direct the servers carrying the pizzas to us when our orders were ready. I dont know if the guys is just generally good with names and faces, or maybe because we were two gals grabbing lunch in a crowd of business suits, or maybe because he had trouble pronouncing and spelling CC’s name.
I enjoyed our lunch there – next time, we have to eat outside in the Spreckels lobby! My gosh, it was so noisy in there! If it weren’t a Friday, I would have piled on the meat!!! The service was pretty good here, I must agree. I liked how they brought out the pizza to us.
Ironically, I found a coupon for this place in my purse, hidden. It was already expired though.
Yeah, it’s too bad we found the quieter eating spot after we were done! Good to know for next time though. And now I need to sign up for their rewards program.
