Lucha Libre, the popular taco shop in San Diego, recently opened a second location in North Park.
It’s located a few doors down from City Tacos and I found myself quite excited by a second location since the first one is always packed.
It was relatively quiet and empty when we went. The amount of seating space appears to be about the same, though the champion’s booth is sectioned off and there is also a wrestling ring too.
Here’s a quick little video Mr. K took of the restaurant space.

Complimentary Chips and Salsa
We love the complimentary chips and salsa here. There are so many salsa and sauces to choose from and it’s always a highlight of the meal.
Surf & Turf Taco
We’ve had the burritos so many times here that we decided to try something different. A few days before this visit, we had just tried their shrimp tacos which they offered at the Best of San Diego party hosted by San Diego Magazine and we were really impressed. These tacos were similar.
Packed with plump shrimp, steak, their super secret creamy sauce and shredded cheese and served on a warm tortilla, this generous-sized taco was quite filling and flavorful.
Champion’s Fries
We’re always on the search for the best carne asada fries in San Diego, so we decided to try their version. The portions and toppings were generous but I wish the fries were more crisp.
Overall, we had a good meal here. The menu is pretty much the same as the original location. I do think this location is a little more convenient and I’ll probably be visiting the newer location more often.

Ah, I was wondering about this place. It tool over the old Marie’s Diner. I like that they have a wide variety of salsas
I was trying to remember what was there before!
I gotta give this place a try. I stopped going to the other location cause there was no parking and it was too packed.
parking is still kind of a problem since it is North Park, but I think the location is more conveniently located
