Recently, a representative from Alexia Foods contacted me to see if I was interested in trying some samples and doing a review of their products. I readily agreed. Alexia features a variety of frozen food products that can pair well with a main entree.

A few weeks later, I came to find a huge box on my doorstep. Inside were six full sized bags of frozen food products. My little brother’s eyes grew bigger and bigger as I pulled out each bag from the box.  Since most of the frozen products were fries, I declared we would have a Fries Fest to taste all the samples.

The first thing we sampled were waffle fries. Seasoned and cut into waffle shapes, these reminded me of the expensive criss-cut fries from Carl’s Jr that I like so much. Out of the whole bunch, these were definitely my favorite. I enjoyed the crispiness, the thin sections, and the seasoning.

Next we tried some “Oven Reds” which are potato slices, seasoned with olive oil, parmesan and roasted garlic. Out of all the bags, this bag was definitely the biggest in quantity. The roasted potato slices took a while to crisp up. I’m not a huge fan of roasted potatoes, instead I prefer the unhealthy fried versions, so I didn’t love these nearly as much.

Next we had some classic oven crinkles. I’ve never enjoyed thick crinkle fries and hate when they are served at restaurants. So it’s hard for me to give a fair assessment of these. They tasted like crinkle fries, but I don’t particularly enjoy crinkle fries.

The final fries were  sweet potato fries. I love sweet potato fries and I enjoyed Alexia’s rendition of them. No one else really likes sweet potato fries in my family so I had these all to myself.

We then heated up the breads. First up was the classic garlic bread. Served on thin, long baguettes, the baguettes are pre-sliced with a chunk of garlic butter put in the middle of each slice, ensuring garlicky goodness in every bite. One package comes with two baguettes. I ended up really enjoying this. It was my favorite item next to the waffle cut fries. The bread had a nice crunchy crust and a soft interior with plenty of garlic and butter. We gobbled up two loaves in no time.

Finally we tried some rosemary ciabbatta breads. I thought these rolls looked so cute. The outside was crunchy and there was a strong flavor of rosemary in the bread.

Overall, we had a fun tasting experience. The waffle fries, garlic bread and ciabbata bread were our favorites. Alexia frozen food products can be found in the frozen food section of most grocery stores. They also carry other frozen food products beyond the ones we sampled. Their full line of products can be found on their website here.

  1. Great review! I’ve tried alexia bagged waffle chips, they are good, but I think the oil they are cooked in doesn’t argree with me. They are very tasty. Can’t wait to try these especially the frozen waffle fries and rosemary rolls
