Breakfast in a cookie form? Yes please!

Recently I was given some samples of belVita Breakfast Biscuits to try.

What immediately appealed to me was the form. Crunchy Biscuit cookies. So far all the on-the-go breakfast choices I’ve seen come in some sort of bar form. I’m not much of a fan of breakfast bars, especially the soft ones. But crunchy cookies on the other hand..

The packaging is similar to breakfast bars, with four biscuits contained in each wrapped package.

There are currently three flavors offered: Blueberry, Golden Oat and Apple Cinnamon.

I’m not nutritional expert. This review is mainly about taste. But some things I gleaned from the product are:

  • The breakfast biscuits do not contain high fructose corn syrup, partially hydrogenated oils, or artificial flavors or sweeteners.
  • Each package also contains 18-20 grams of whole grains per serving.

The website also states that these are baked in a way so that the carbohydrates are slowly released, giving you energy throughout your morning. I’m not sure exactly how this works, you’ll have to research that more if you’re interested.

Now onto the taste:

I really enjoyed them. Maybe a little too much. I didn’t want to stop after one pack and had to remind myself that even though they have all these healthy oats and grains, too many packs in one sitting would be too much sugar. They tasted like sweet oat cereal (my favorite kind!) but in a cookie biscuit form. My favorite was the golden oat, but I enjoyed the other ones as well.

The portable packaging is also a definite plus. It’s easy to store in my purse for breakfast or a snack. I ate them after working out and during a road trip with a friend.

You can read more about the breakfast biscuits here on their website. They should already be available at your local supermarket too.

Disclosure: I was given three boxes to sample for free. I was not paid for this post and my opinions are my own.
