Bluefin Fusion is located in the UTC mall area, next to Cozymelโ€™s. It replaced the former Peking Palace. I noticed it a while back, but never had the desire to check it out, given the lack of good sushi places in the area.

Thanks to twitter, I took notice of it, and saw a lot of positive reviews on yelp. I was so surprised by the positive reviews that I decided to check it out.

We went on a Saturday night and were told there would be a wait. Since it was Saturday night, I wasnโ€™t surprised. After we waited for a while, we were shown a table. To my surprise, the restaurant was practically empty, so I donโ€™t know why we had to wait so long.

The restaurant had a bar-like atmosphere, with lights that changed colors periodically.

The menu had a variety of rolls and sushi. The prices were about average of other sushi spots in the area.

After we ordered, we waited quite a long time for the food to arrive.  It got to the point where my brother was thinking we should have just left.

Both my brother and I ordered a chirashi bowl.

The chirashi bowl was served on a huge plate. I guess this is part of the โ€œfusion.โ€

The fish cuts were pretty generous, but there wasnโ€™t too much variety. The sashimi was served with a huge mound of rice.

BF ordered two rolls. A rainbow roll and a wasabi roll.

Rainbow roll:

The food was decent, but the service was so slow.  Itโ€™s probably not a place Iโ€™ll revisit.

    2. Haha, yes the randomly changing colors did some funky effects to my photos which I donโ€™t like either.

    3. I agree with your opinion! The food does look pretty though, other than the random colored lights made the chirashi bowl (second picture) look weird.

    4. Happy hour is always a great way to try out new spots! I agree, the chirashi bowl here is pretty plain and uninspiring. The quantity was decent, but I would have preferred more variety.

    5. Iโ€™ve been wanting to try this place out too but only for Happy Hour (thatโ€™s sorta my new way of trying out a new place when iโ€™m on a budget!)
The chirashi bowl looks strange โ€“ not sure why. Maybe just really plain and bare? Iโ€™m use to being โ€˜wowedโ€™ when i see a well done chirashi bowl you know? Not that iโ€™ve had THAT many but for example, the one at Nozomi always makes me happy (when itโ€™s done right!).
And i also donโ€™t get why restaurants make you wait when the place is empty. Maybe the anticipation of getting seated makes you more hungry or something (thatโ€™s my conspiracy theory at least).
