French Macarons

I hope everyone is having a wonderful Saturday. I just wanted to share a quick post of some beautiful macarons I recently inhaled.

I love French macarons and will buy them whenever I see them. There is a small French cafe in San Diego called Opera Patiserrie that I’ve posted about before. I stop by there for fresh croissants, desserts, and of course macarons.

They sell a variety pack for about $12 and they are labeled “Parisian Macaroons.”  They aren’t necessarily the best macarons, but they do hit the spot. I don’t remember all the flavors, but I believe they were chocolate, hazelnut, pistachio, cappuccino, strawberry and cinnamon.

I was eager to dig in,but wanted to take a picture before they look so beautiful with their different color shells.

After taking these pictures, I promptly at all of them. All. I wasn’t kidding when I said I inhaled them.

  1. There macarons are very good looking, with a smooth, “flat” shell. It’s rare to see them so well made. I’m going to ask them if i can carry them. Thanks for the article! Did you know that the first macarons were made with chocolate ganache?

  2. looks like we have the same kind of restraint when it comes to macarons – NONE! 🙂

    • I usually eat them in the car. This is the first time in a while that I showed enough restraint to wait until I got home and took a photo. Hehee
