I found a new manju set at Nijiya during my shopping trip. I previously posted on the handcrafted manju from Hogetsu Bakery, sold at Nijiya here, here and here.
There were two different sets available. It took me a long time, but I finally decided on this one:
This rainbow like one was similar to the ones in previous sets.
I liked how this green one looked, but it was hard to handle. It was so soft that it easily lost its shape while I was getting out of the container.
This pink one was my favorite:

Welcome to SD Nikki! I definitely recommend going to Hogetsu directly if you can to buy the mochi. While Nijiya has a pretty selection of Hogetsu’s goods, the fresh mochi at Hogetsu is soo much better!

I just moved from the Bay Area, North Cal and now in Del Mar, San Diego… Thank you for the tips on where I can get the best Manju around, they are my favorite desert!!! Kinako Manju is what I love the most… I can’t wait.

Hey Kirbie – Since you’ve been waiting so long to visit Hogetsu in CV, I’d recommend waiting until around New Year. That’s when you’ll see some stuff that only appears around the holidays.
