I discovered Tasty Bakery a few years ago when trying to find a chinese bakery in San Diego outside of the one inside Ranch 99. I was a bit disappointed though because they offered almost all the same goods at Ranch 99, and tasted about the same or worse, with prices slightly higher than Ranch 99.
The other weekend I found myself in the plaza, and decided to go inside and browse around.
I bought a couple of heart shaped pineapple cakes. I'd forgotten that they sell these here. I love how they are heart shaped. I haven't seen them this shape in any other bakery.
I also picked up these spiral cookies. I thought they would be sweet but they weren't. They were crispy with sesames on top and salty. After getting used to the initial surprise that it wasn't sweet, I ended up liking the taste.
I also got a pineapple bun with taro paste filling.
The bakery was tastier than I remembered.
I rarely see pineapple buns with taro filling. it’s quite tasty though! I liked the spiral cookies even though they weren’t sweet.
Pineapple buns with taro filling? Never try or see it before. The spiral cookies look delicious. Great for snack time. 😉
I saw them, but I haven’t tried the baos! They did look good.
I haven’t tried any of their cakes before. I was afraid I wouldn’t like it.
I did see the samples of sponge cake and I sampled a taro flavored one that was yummy.
I’m not a fan of their normal pineapple bun, but the ones with filling are pretty good. And I enjoy their cookies.
I’m not a fan of their regular pineapple buns (they don’t even look right), but their filled ones look more like how pineapple buns should look. I liked the one with taro filling. =) I’m never in that plaza, so I haven’t been to Tasty in a long while.

They use to make really good baos – have you tried them? They make like 4-5 different ones (the savory ones).
And they have good roll cakes too – i like the coffee one. Their sponge cake is yummy too (did you see their free sample tray of that?). I always see their fresh fruit sheet cakes – have you tried that?
I have yet to try their cookies or the pineapple bun. The pineapple bun at 99 Ranch always seemed better for some reason.
I haven’t been to Tasty Bakery in years. I can certainly go for a pineapple bun with taro filling right now.
I think all you show in the figure is very tasty and I can not control my self without testing it.so I am going to right now.
