Mostra Coffee, one of my favorite coffee roasters in San Diego, recently opened their first cafe.

Previously, Mostra Coffee was only open to the public two days a week. The company was started by a childhood group of friends who grew up in North County. Now they are in a much bigger space and open to the public seven days a week.

We’ve been eagerly anticipating this new space ever since they announced it last year.

Choconana Cold Brew, Campfire Latte, and Bibingka Creme Brulee Latte

We always enjoy trying out their different espresso drinks. The Campfire Latte is made with espresso and chocolate and finished with a sprinkling of graham cracker crumbs and honey. I miss the torched marshmallows they used to have on the drink before and this version didn’t quite seem to evoke a campfire feel to me like the previous version did.

New to me was the Bibingka Creme Brulee. Bibingka is a type of Filipino coconut rice cake and this drink had hints of coconut. I really enjoyed the crunchy torched sugar crystals on top as well.

Choconana

Our absolute favorite drink to get here is their Choconana. Made with their Brazil cold brew (which I also love), the coffee is sweetened with homemade banana syrup and tastes like banana bread in a glass. There is no actual chocolate in the coffee, but the Brazil cold brew gives it a cocoa-like finish. We always get two because this is one we just aren’t willing to share.

We usually also pick up a bottle of Brazil cold brew and their Mo’Chata (cold brew + horchata) but since we weren’t going straight home, we didn’t get any on this visit.

The cafe also offers several baked goods from a local bakery but they were all out on our visit.

Overall, we’re so excited that Mostra Coffee has this new space which will make it easier for us to visit. We’ll definitely be coming back more often and we are looking forward to seeing how they grow and expand the menu.

  1. I just went there today for the first time because of your review. I got the Choconana cold brew on your recommendation, and OH. EM. GEE. What an amazing drink. Smooth, slightly sweet, and flavorful as heck! I am not a huge fan of banana, but WOWZA, this is delicious! Thanks for the recommendation and review!

    • yay!! so glad you got to try it! Now that they are open everyday, I go nearly every weekend to get my choconana fix!

  2. Hi Kirbie!
Thank you so much for the visit to our new space and your continued support! Be on the look out for a few new upgrades to the booths in the near future, including individual lighting and pop-out tables in each booth! Cheers!
