Peterson’s Donut Corner is a popular donut shop in Escondido that has been around for more than 30 years, offering super-sized donuts 24 hours a day, 7 days a week. I love it when donut shops stay open beyond the morning hours and the only thing better than a donut is a giant donut!
In addition to all the classic flavors, they have a variety of rotating specialties. On our most recent visit, we ended up choosing four.
Maple Bacon Bar, Glazed Twist, Buttermilk Bar, Cinnamon Twist
As you can see, each donut stretches the length of the pastry box. Of the four, my favorite was the cinnamon twist. Here is a photo I shared on Instagram the day I got it, trying to show how enormous this donut is.
A close second was the maple bacon bar. Because, well, bacon.
We don’t come to Peterson’s Donut Corner often, but we like to stop by if we’re in the area or passing through. I’ve always enjoyed the variety and large donuts. One issue though, is that they aren’t always consistent. There always seems to be one undercooked and this visit was no exception as my glazed twist was definitely not fried long enough.
