Taiwan Trip Part 3- Reception banquet

As you know, Baby Bro’s girlfriend recently came back from her annual winter trip to Taiwan. You can read about part 1 and part 2 here. She’s continuing to send me photos with some notes of her trip so that I can share them with you all.

I was really excited to see these pictures from The Landis, which held the wedding reception for BBG’s older sister. I’ve been to a few reception banquets in Taiwan and the setting is always so pretty and the food so delicious.

Here is a little party favor/gift for each guest:

And of course, the food:

The first one is a cold platter with lobster. A cold platter is almost always the first course in a chinese banquet meal.

These appear to be sticky rice balls (tang yuan)

I believe this is quail.

Shark fin soup

Chicken soup:

Shitaki mushrooms stuffed with seafood

Eggrolls

Fish. Another must for a chinese banquet.

Rice wine soup

Mango pudding

Fruit platter. I spy my beloved guava.

Here is the dessert all dished out.

A delicious looking slice of cake:

  1. I thought the mango pudding looked like nacho cheese!

My friend says that at one banquet she went to, a woman thought the quails were parakeets. Now every time I see quail, I think of parakeets.

    • Haha, parakeet? I’m guessing that woman refused to eat hers? Hmm, I just thought the pudding looked like pudding, but then I had saw it with the pic of it dished out in the glass.

  2. Once at a banquet style dinner they served quail and one of them still had a teeny little feather attached to it. So gross.

  3. Is it just me or does that mango pudding look like a curry? 😛
