Trader Joe’s January Edition

Sharing my latest January grocery haul from Trader Joe’s. I tried some new products and featured Fearless Flyer items like dark russet potato chips, cheese bites with summer truffle, black bean dip and more. I also share a few low carb and keto-friendly items towards the end of this post.

Trader Joe’s Black Bean Dip

This is a new item which I found to be quite tasty and flavorful if you enjoy black beans. It is a little on the spicy side though.

Cosmic Crisp Apples

This is a new apple breed, a combination of honeycrisp and enterprise apples. I love how red and round the apples are and they have that distinct honeycrisp crispness to them.

Trader Joe’s Dark Russet Kettle Cooked Potato Chips

One of my favorites from this month’s haul. I love how Trader Joe’s is always coming out with new ways to present potato chips. These dark russet ones look pretty unique and they do have a more caramelized flavor than regular potato chips.

Trader Joe’s Pistachio Cranberry Bites

I have such a weakness for nuts and dried fruit bars, so I really liked this combination of pistachio and dried cranberries.

Honey Mama’s Honey Cocoa Bar

These paleo snack bars need to be kept refrigerated. I found them to be a little too sweet for a mid-day snack.

Trader Joe’s Soft Strawberry Licorice Twists

This is one of my go-to favorites. I’ve had a hard time finding old-school chewy licorice that doesn’t taste overwhelmingly artificial. I always grab a bag of these when I’m here.

Trader Joe’s Mochi Rice Bites

Another one of my favorite items here. I haven’t found these mochi rice bites anywhere else, including Japanese markets. I love the crunchy texture and the distinctive mochi flavor in every bite.

Low Carb/Keto-Friendly Products

Trader Joe’s Organic Peanut Powder

I’ve heard so many good things about Trader Joe’s peanut powder and I’m now a fan too. It has such a rich peanut buttery taste and the hint of sea salt really enhances the flavor. I like adding this to smoothies or sprinkling it over dessert.

Trader Joe’s Organic Cacao Powder

Not a new product but I’m happy to see Trader Joe’s offering cacao powder. I like using it to make cacao brownie bites.

Trader Joe’s Oven Baked Cheese Bites with Black Summer Truffle

I love cheese bites, especially ones with different flavors because sometimes I get tired of just parmesan or cheddar. These have a strong whiff of truffle aroma as soon as you open the bag. The truffle flavoring is quite strong but I found these to be enjoyable and a nice change-up from the regular ones.

Trader Joe’s Chile Lime Seasoning Blend

Trader Joe’s is always coming out with new seasonings. This chile lime one works well for chicken, beef and fish.

That’s all for now! As always, please share any new finds you have so I can hopefully try them too. If you’re looking for more items to try, you can check out my February haul or last month’s haul here.

  1. I love how you include the nutritional info on the items – so very helpful!!! Do you think the mochi bites would work in a brownie (a bar or bite version?).

    • No I don’t think the mochi bites would work in a baked good. These are crunchy mochi snacks, not the traditional chewy kind, so they won’t hold up well in cookie or brownie batter.

  2. The Cosmic apples sound delicious – I am always looking to try different varieties. They always have unusual selections at Trader Joe’s. I wonder if their chile lime seasoning is like Tajin. You can also put that chile lime powder on fruit, like watermelon, oranges, mangoes and pineapple and even cucumber (I know not a fruit, but many of my Mexican friends combine cucumber with their fruit salads).

    • I love trying different apple varieties too. The chile lime seasoning is not like tajin. I like using tajin on fruit. This is saltier and the lime flavor less intense. Definitely more for seasoning and adding salt to proteins or savory dishes.
