There's a list of breakfast/brunch places in San Diego that I have been wanting to try.  But the list rarely gets smaller because I don't usually go out for breakfast or brunch.  This weekend, I finally was able to try one of the places on my list.  What drew me to this place was some unique sounding dishes and cool plating.  You can see their menu and pictures of some of their dishes on their website.

There is seating both outdoor and indoors.  Since it was so hot, we chose to sit inside.  The odd thing was that half of the indoor seating was brightly lit and half of it was inside a dark dining room.  They seated us in the dark section, which made pictures hard to take.  It made me feel like we were eating dinner instead of brunch.

After browsing the large menu of breakfast and lunch items, I was torn.  The problem with brunches is that there are so many options and I can never decide.  I always want something sweet and something savory.  I narrowed it down to pan fried linguine and pumpkin pancakes.  I ended up going with the pancakes.

The pancakes were pretty big, thick and fluffy.  They were full of pumpkin, cinnamon spice.  It was kind of like eating pumpkin bread, but with a pancake texture.  The pancakes were good, but after a while they were a bit overwhelming and I was craving something salty.  It would have been nice if the pancakes came with eggs or sausage or other side.

Boyfriend went with the chilaquiles.  The description is as follows: scrambled eggs, crispy corn tortillas, homemade red chile sauce & asiago cheese

I realy liked the presentation of this dish.  It tasted pretty good.  The crispy tortillas weren't really crispy because they were cooked with the dish.  It tasted very much like a mix of mexican food: beans, cheese, meat, tortilla.

The portions are pretty generous and the prices are reasonable.  Most dishes are about $10.00.  The service was very attentive.  While the food didn't wow us, it was enjoyable and there are a lot of other items on the menu that seem interesting.
