I hope everyone in San Diego is staying safe in these fires…
This weekend, we went to visit Souplantation. From May 1 to May 31, Souplantation is holding a “Design Your Own Delicious” contest where the grand prize is one year’s worth of free meal passes.
I was recently given a gift card to visit Souplantation during the contest period, which was especially convenient as I had been craving Souplantation for weeks. You can read the full contest details here, but basically the idea is to create your own dish/dessert/salad/drink/etc while dining at Souplantation and then uploading a photo of it to be entered in the contest.
We started with our usual salads.
I was thinking of designing a special salad but they didn’t quite have all the ingredients I was looking for.
Instead, I decided to design my own soup, with a little help from the salad bar.
Smoky Bacon Clam Chowder
I took the classic clam chowder and added about 2 tbsp of the smoky bacon dressing (from the salad bar) and topped it with some bacon bits (from the baked potato area). This was great! The smoky bacon flavor is subtle but it added another dimension to the creamy chowder flavor.
Mr. K decided to design his own side.
Bacon Macaroni and Cheese Loaded Baked Potato
This was pretty good too. I might have to try remaking this at home. And I love how the cheesy macaroni looks on top of the baked potato.
Here’s some of the other foods we had. Of course I had to get my fill of soups:
And I can never get enough of the hot and fresh blueberry muffins.
I ended with the vanilla soft serve. I love how creamy it is here. Sorry, my photo came out blurry so I’m not going to post it.
Disclaimer: As stated above, I was provided a complimentary gift card to visit my local Souplantation. I was not further compensated for this meal and my opinions are my own.

Only you could photograph Souplantation and make it look SO NICE! Haha. I love Souplantation, people always hate on it but its not supposed to be gourmet high end dishes its supposed to be delicious AYCE soups and salads and dessert. I’d much rather eat there than other restaurant chain places. Love their chicken noodle soup 🙂
We sat on the patio area for better lighting! I love Souplantation too! I’ve outgrown a lot of chain type restaurants, but I’m always up for multiple soups and the blueberry muffins with their crispy edges!
