We really love baked tofu fries. When firm tofu is baked, it develops a golden crispy skin and a chewy interior. There are very few healthier food options that Mr. K actually enjoys. One of them is baked or grilled tofu. His eyes light up every time I make it, so I take full advantage and make it often. Lately, I’ve made BBQ Tofu Fries before and now I have this honey garlic combination.

It’s the same deliciously addicting honey garlic sauce I use on my chicken, but instead it’s brushed on the tofu fries. I then topped them with some sesame seeds for an additional crunch factor.

Baked Honey Garlic Tofu Fries

These baked tofu fries are coating with a honey garlic sauce and topped with some crunchy sesame seeds. They make a great healthier snack or meal option.

Ingredients

  • 2 packages of firm tofu
  • 1 tbsp white sesame seeds

for the sauce

  • 6 tbsp honey
  • 4 garlic cloves, minced
  • 1 tsp onion powder
  • 6 tbsp water + 1/2 tbsp cornstarch + 1/2 tsp cornstarch
  • 1 1/2 tbsp light soy sauce
  • 1/2 tbsp sriracha sauce

Instructions

  • Preheat oven to 375°F. Slice tofu into 1/2 inch thick sticks, so that they resemble french fries. Using a few paper towels, pat tofu to draw as much water out of the tofu fries as possible. Lay tofu sticks onto baking sheet lined with parchment paper. Bake for about 20-30 minutes (flipping halfway) until fries are golden and outside is crisp.
  • While fries are baking, make your sauce on the stove. Add all sauce ingredients except the cornstarch + water into a small saucepan. Bring to a low boil and stir until mixed. In a small bowl, completely dissolve cornstarch in water, then add to the mixture. Stir until sauce boils again and cook until sauce thickens (about 2 minutes).
  • When fries are finished, quickly brush with sauce and sprinkle sesame seeds on top.
