This peanut butter fudge is creamy and smooth. It only needs 2 ingredients and is very easy to make. The fudge is healthier than traditional fudge but you won’t be able to tell. You don’t need a candy thermometer or a stove to make this fudge. This fudge also stores well.
I love how creamy and smooth this fudge is. It has just the right balance of chocolate and peanut butter as well. This fudge has a texture like traditional fudge but is made with healthier ingredients.
Ingredients
- Dark chocolate chips
- Natural peanut butter
Dark chocolate chips: For this recipe you want to use dark or bittersweet chocolate with around 60% cocoa. You can go up to 70% cocoa but the fudge won’t be quite as creamy or sweet with 70% cocoa.
Natural peanut butter: This fudge uses peanut butter with no added oils. The only ingredients should be peanuts and salt. The peanut butter gives the fudge a very smooth and creamy texture.
How to Make Healthier Chocolate Peanut Butter Fudge
- The chocolate chips and peanut butter are combined in a large bowl and melted until smooth. The fudge mixture is then transferred to your prepared loaf pan.
- Place the fudge into the fridge or freezer until it is set. Let it come to room temperature for a few minutes before cutting and serving.
Expert Tips
- This recipe uses dark bittersweet chocolate to make the fudge healthier. However, if you prefer a sweeter fudge, this fudge can be made with semisweet or milk chocolate chips.
- Make sure to use peanut butter with no added oils because any added oils will affect the texture of the fudge. There are some brands of peanut butter that label their peanut butter as natural or natural-style but still contain added oils so I recommend checking the ingredient list to make sure it really is just peanuts and salt.

2 Ingredient Healthier Peanut Butter Fudge
Ingredients
- 1/2 cup (128 g) natural peanut butter, no added oils
- 1 1/2 cups (252 g) dark or bittersweet chocolate chips, 60% cocoa see note before starting
Instructions
- Line an 8 inch x 4 inch loaf pan with parchment paper, leaving some overhang for easy removal later.
- Add peanut butter and chocolate chips to a large microwave safe mixing bowl, making sure to add the peanut butter first so that the chocolate chips cover the peanut butter. This will prevent the peanut butter from overcooking. Heat in 15-30 second intervals, stirring in between with a spatula until chocolate is completely melted and the mixture is smooth and uniform in color.
- Transfer the fudge into your lined baking loaf pan. Use a spatula to smooth and even the surface.
- Place the fudge into the fridge or freezer until set, about 30-60 minutes. Let the fudge come to room temperature for a few minutes before cutting with a large sharp knife. Cut fudge into approximate 1 inch squares. Uneaten fudge should be stored in an airtight container in the fridge or freezer.
Notes
- Dark chocolate note: Make sure to use dark chocolate chips (sometimes labeled bittersweet chocolate chips) that contains around 60% cocoa. You can go as high as 70% cocoa but your fudge won't be as sweet and will be less creamy. Also make sure your dark chocolate chips contain lecithin. Avoid brands like Enjoy Life that don't contain any lecithin because that ingredient is needed to help keep the chocolate smooth. We also recommend using a dark chocolate that has dairy, as this also helps the chocolate be creamy.
- I made this fudge with Ghiradelli 60% cacao bittersweet chocolate chips (Amazon | Walmart | Target)*
- Peanut butter note: Make sure to use a peanut butter with no added oils. There are some peanut butters that are labeled "natural" or "natural style" but still contain added oils so make sure to check the ingredients label. I used Kirkland Organic Peanut Butter (Amazon | Costco)*.

- Fudge Sweetness Note: Please note that this fudge is meant to be a healthier fudge so it is not that sweet. It has a bittersweet level of sweetness since the only sweetness comes from the bittersweet chocolate. If you prefer a sweeter fudge, you can make it with semisweet or milk chocolate chips.

Couple of questions
I always pour out the peanut oil that floats on top when I open a new container.
Is ‘drained’ peanut butter going to be successful in this recipe?
Also, I normally buy unsalted peanut butter. Will that cause a significant taste difference?
Hi, drained peanut butter will likely not work well. The oils of the peanut butter do float to the top and you usually should stir them back in until evenly mixed before using. Of course, you can drain for your own personal preference, but when using in a recipe, it won’t work as well because the drained peanut butter will be too thick and not runny enough. It’s fine to use unsalted peanut butter. Some people like that touch of salt with their chocolate but if you don’t care for it, then it’s okay to use unsalted.
Absolutely delicious and so amazingly simple to make. I used Pam spray in my pan instead of parchment paper and they came out very easily.
