Fleming’s Happy Hour October Specials

FH and I really enjoy Fleming’s for happy hour, but haven’t had a chance to visit for a while. Their clever slogan is “5 for $6 until 7.” In other words, 5 appetizers, cocktails, and wines for $6 each, served from 5-7pm, seven days a week.

We don’t particularly like going to happy hour during the week because it tends to be so busy. So we really love that Fleming’s even serves happy hour on the weekends, when it is less crowded. It’s a great way to unwind on a Sunday evening before dreaded Monday morning.

I received an email about some drink specials during the month of October. Fleming’s usually alternates the cocktails and wines on its happy hour menu each month. This month, in honor of Breast Cancer Awareness Month , there are two drinks on the menu made especially for to raise money for breast cancer fighting charities: a Cline Cashmere wine and a Stiletto cocktail.

The drink I was most interested in checking out was the Stiletto. First, 100% of benefit the Avon Breast Cancer Crusade. Second, this drink is only 99 calories.

The Stiletto is a mix of blackberries and gin. Normally I’m not a fan of gin, but the cocktail was quite sweet so I couldn’t really taste it.

FH chose a Tropical Martini, another sweet cocktail made with rum.

I noticed one new appetizer on the menu, a bbq shrimp which replaced the previous shrimp cocktail. We didn’t end up trying it.

We weren’t too hungry so we only ordered two appetizers to share.

We had the fried calamari. The portions didn’t seem quite as large as before, but still pretty good portion sizes.

We also ordered the seared ahi tuna, one of FH’s favorites. I like the pickled raw salad accompanying the tuna.

It was a perfect way to end our Sunday evening. We got to watch the sunset, enjoy some cocktails and a light meal. You can read about my previous happy hour experience with more menu items here.

  1. So today I went to the Newport Beach location of Fleming’s to try out their happy hour after reading about your post. All seats were basically taken at 5:10pm! Luckily, some people squeezed over and made seats for us.

Do you think the Stiletto drink was strong? I don’t know if they skimped on liquor because of the happy hour price, or that I suddenly got a much bigger (5X) tolerance.

I tried the cajun shrimp and it was really delicious despite the fact that it’s different from the dish I was craving so long from that one particular restaurant in NOLA. You should try it next time, and make sure to get some bread to dip in that good ol spicy butter sauce.

Thanks for your post. This is going to be my favorite happy hour spot!

    • Wow, I’m surprised it was so full! I think usually the emptiest day is usually Sunday, but then maybe it depends on the location. I didn’t think the Stiletto was strong but I could taste/ feel the alcohol. I did start feeling happy after one, but then I also drank it on an empty stomach. Thanks for letting me know about the shrimp. I definitely will try it next time.

  2. Booze and charity all in one? That sounds like a winning combination!

  3. This happy hour deal looks tempting! I gotta go try the Cajun BBQ Shrimp… That sounds like the dish we couldn’t stop thinking about after having it during the trip to New Orleans. Love it that the happy hour is for weekends as well!

    • I regret not ordering the shrimp! I’ve enjoyed all the happy hour dishes so far. It was still early that day so we weren’t that hungry. But now I wish we had tried the shrimp!
