This chai latte recipe is inspired by Starbucks pumpkin spice chai latte and is made with pumpkin puree, chai tea, and milk. It’s an easy drink you can make at home.

As soon as Fall started, I immediately began craving pumpkin-flavored drinks like the pumpkin spice latte and pumpkin chai latte you can get at Starbucks.

To save some money, I’ve been making them at home whenever possible. In only a few minutes, you can make your own Pumpkin Chai Latte.

It’s easy to make your own latte recipes at home. For this chai latte, you brew a cup of chai tea (I use Chai Diaries brand chai tea bags).  Heat up a cup of milk with some pumpkin puree and sweetener. Mix and stir, and you end up with two delicious cups of pumpkin chai latte. If you have a frother you can make some frothed milk to add to your drink, too.

Ingredients

  • Milk
  • Brewed Chai tea
  • Canned pumpkin
  • A sweetener like honey, maple syrup, or agave nectar

Instructions

Brew the chai tea in the cup. In a small saucepan, whisk the milk, pumpkin puree, and sweetener. Warm the mixture over low to medium heat and stir constantly until the puree is dissolved.

Remove the pan from the heat and pour it into the mug with the tea. Stir to combine before serving.

Recipe Tips

Milk: Any milk will work like fat-free, 2%, or whole milk. You can also use almond milk, coconut milk, or oat milk in this drink to make it dairy-free.

Spices: You can also add some pumpkin pie spice mix or individual spices like nutmeg, ground cinnamon, or cloves when you warm the pumpkin mixture.

Other Flavors: Try adding an extract like vanilla extract or almond extract for extra flavor. You mix it into the milk mixture as it warms.

Toppings: I like mine plain, but you can dress up your latte with some whipped cream as a topping. Sprinkle some spices over the top for garnish.

This homemade pumpkin spice chai latte recipe tastes very similar to the coffee shop ones. I love that I save some money making my own and I don’t have to leave the house. The flavor of the chai spice with the pumpkin is a great combination.
