Mariscos German is one of our favorite Mexican taco trucks in San Diego. We like most of the items we’ve had and the service is pretty friendly.
Complimentary consomme
While waiting for our food, we were given a cup of rich broth to sip on. This is pretty customary for Mexican taco trucks in San Diego, but Mariscos German makes my favorite one. The broth is very concentrated and hearty. Also I never have to ask for it, unlike some other trucks.
Tostada Loca
This is actually the first time I’ve ordered this, after seeing many rave reviews on yelp. It’s a huge variety of seafood including shrimp, raw oysters, ceviche, octopus and more, served with hot, crunchy tortillas. If you’re a seafood lover, it’s definitely with trying.
Gobernador Taco
This actually isn’t one of my favorites. I prefer the version at Mariscos El Pescador, which isn’t too far away. The serving is generous, but the flavor is a little bland.
We actually had several more eating spots to hit, so on this trip, we kept it to just a few items. However, as I mentioned, we’ve liked most of the tacos and menu items we’ve tried, especially the fish tacos. We really enjoyed the tostada loca on this try and will probably be adding it to one of the regular items we order. There are some Mexican trucks in San Diego where you’ll have a better experience if you speak Spanish or at least bring someone who does. But I’ve found that the treatment here has always been friendly to both Spanish and non-Spanish speaking folks.

I have yet to hit this place up…it’s in my old hood too. The tostada loca look so great. I love that they had actual shells for the clams.
I’m surprised you’ve never been! I would visit so much more often if it was a bit closer to me
