We recently had a nice brunch at Monello. Over the years, I’ve had dinner, happy hour and lunch there, but I have to confess, they were not on my brunch radar. So when I was invited in to check out their brunch, I was happy for the reminder.
Cornetti with Nutella
We started with a filled Italian pastry, similar to a croissant. There are six fillings to choose from and of course I chose Nutella.
The cornetti was warm, soft, and buttery. It was a nice start to our meal.
cornetto al san daniele
Homemade croissant stuffed with prosciutto, mozzarella cheese, served with potatoes and a stuffed bombolone. All these elements reminded me so much of our trip to Italy a few years ago, where we had similar items for breakfast every morning at our hotel. I loved everything on my plate, and I especially enjoyed the bombolone (an Italian filled doughnut). While the Nutella cornetti had been good, the Nutella bombolone was even better, having been freshly out of the fryer.
brunch pizza
Mr. K chose the pizza, which was absolutely loaded with bacon, spinach and eggs. We loved the soft runny yolks of the eggs The pizzas here have always been excellent and this one was no exception.
rock & twist vermouth
They have a nice selection of brunch cocktails and I enjoy getting a pretty cocktail with my brunch. But I also really love their house-made vermouth here, so I ended up sticking with that.
Overall, we had a lovely Italian brunch here. I can’t believe it’s taken me so long to try brunch at Monello and I’m glad I did. Brunch is available on weekends only.
