Yogurt bark with chocolate swirls and fresh fruit

This yogurt bark is a nice snack or dessert. You can use whatever fruit you like or add other mix-ins. You can also add melted chocolate on top, but that is optional.

Ingredients

  • Greek yogurt
  • Maple syrup
  • Chopped fruit

Greek yogurt: I made this with unsweetened plain Greek yogurt and sweetened it with maple syrup. You can also make this with sweetened vanilla Greek yogurt and then you can skip the maple syrup. Make sure to use Greek yogurt which is thicker than regular yogurt. The bark works best with whole milk Greek yogurt, but you can use low fat.

Maple syrup: A little maple syrup is added to sweeten the yogurt. You can substitute with other liquid sweeteners.

Chopped fruit: Chopped fruit is added to the yogurt bark. You can choose whatever fruit you prefer, but I recommend ones that aren’t too watery. Mine is topped with blueberries, strawberries and kiwi.

Optional dark chocolate: My bark is also topped with melted dark chocolate to add sweetness, flavor and make the bark look nicer. However, the chocolate is optional. You also can use other types of chocolate.

How to Make Healthier Yogurt Bark

  • The yogurt and maple syrup are mixed together. Spread the yogurt onto your prepared sheet pan.
  • Spread your fruit across the yogurt layer.
  • Place into the freezer until set. Break or cut with a sharp knife. Keep bark frozen until ready to serve.

Texture

The yogurt bark is solid and firm, similar to chocolate bark but made with yogurt instead. It is creamy once you start eating it.

Expert Tips

  • The bark needs to be kept frozen. You can let it soften a little at room temperature before eating but if you let it sit out too long, it will melt.
  • This bark is easy to customize. You can use different flavored yogurts. You can also adjust the sweetness to suit your personal preference.

3 Ingredient Healthier Yogurt Bark

This easy yogurt bark is a healthier alternative to traditional candy bark. Lightly sweet, creamy and topped with whatever fruit you prefer. You only need 3 ingredients to make this bark.

Ingredients

  • 2 cups (456g) whole milk plain Greek yogurt
  • 2-4 tbsp (30ml-59ml) maple syrup, or more as needed
  • 1 cup (about 160g) mixed fruit, such as blueberries, chopped strawberries, kiwi

Instructions

  • Line a small baking sheet (such as a 12 x 9 inch) with parchment paper. In a medium bowl, mix together yogurt and maple syrup until the maple syrup is fully incorporated. Start with 2 tbsp and add more as needed to taste.
  • Add yogurt mixture onto the lined baking sheet and spread out into an even layer, between ¼ inch and ½ inch thick.
  • Optional chocolate step: If adding chocolate, melt 1/4 cup dark chocolate chips in the microwave or using double boiler method on stove until it is smooth and fully melted. Add dollops of chocolate and swirl with the yogurt. You don’t need to use all of the chocolate.
  • Top with fresh fruit, spreading them evenly across and pressing lightly down to make sure some of the fruit is in the yogurt so the fruit doesn’t roll off when you freeze it.
  • Place bark in the freezer until the yogurt is firm, about 3 to 4 hours.
  • Use a large knife to cut bark into pieces. Bark should be eaten soon after it is removed from the freezer or it will start to melt. Store leftover bark in an airtight container in the freezer.
