3 Ingredient Healthy Peanut Butter Fudge

This creamy peanut butter fudge is just 3 ingredients and healthier than traditional fudge. It doesn’t contain any refined sugar, dairy butter or milk. The fudge is very easy to make and stores well.

I like making this fudge as a quick dessert or sweet snack. It’s smooth and creamy, just like regular fudge but made with healthier ingredients. It only takes about 5 minutes to prepare.

Ingredients

  • Peanut butter
  • Maple Syrup
  • Coconut butter

Peanut butter: This fudge is made with natural creamy peanut butter. This is peanut butter with no added oils. You want to look for a peanut butter that only contains peanuts and salt in the ingredient list. Peanut butter can also be substituted with natural almond butter.

Maple syrup: The fudge is lightly sweetened with pure maple syrup. The maple syrup also helps the fudge thicken and set. You can also use a sugar-free maple flavored syrup as long as it has a similar thin, watery consistency to maple syrup. I don’t recommend using honey or any thick type of syrup.

Coconut butter: Coconut butter is used in place of milk and regular butter. Coconut butter is a spread made from the whole coconut. It helps the fudge set and helps the fudge develop its creamy texture. I also have a version that uses coconut oil.

How to Make Healthy Fudge

Stir the peanut butter and melted coconut butter until evenly combined. Then add in the maple syrup. When you add the maple syrup, the batter will thicken.

Pour the batter into a lined loaf pan. Place it into the freezer until the fudge is set. Once fudge is set, it can be cut into individual pieces. This fudge will become a little soft if left out at room temperature for too long so it is best to keep it in the fridge or freezer.

Fudge Texture and Sweetness

This fudge has a smooth and creamy texture. It is lightly sweetened and not as sweet as traditional fudge.

Ingredients

  • 3/4 cup (192 g) natural creamy peanut butter
  • 1/4 cup (58 g) coconut butter melted
  • 2 1/2 tbsp (37 ml) maple syrup

Instructions

  • Line an 8 x 4 inch loaf pan with parchment paper.
  • In a large bowl, combine peanut butter and melted coconut butter. Stir with a spatula until the coconut butter is completely and evenly incorporated into the peanut butter.
  • Stir in the maple syrup. When you mix in the syrup, it should thicken the mixture. If needed you can add another 1/2 to 1 tbsp maple syrup if you desire a sweeter fudge.
  • Add fudge into prepared loaf pan. Smooth and even surface with a spatula. Place into freezer to set (about 30-60 minutes). When fudge is completely solid, remove from freezer. Let it soften for a few minutes at room temperature before cutting with a large sharp knife. The fudge becomes quite soft if left out at room temperature for a long time so store uneaten fudge pieces in a sealed container in the fridge or freezer.

Notes

  • Make sure to use natural peanut butter, which is peanut butter that has no added oils. Only peanuts and salt should be on the ingredient list. You can also substitute with natural almond butter.
  • This recipe works best with pure maple syrup. I don't recommend using honey or any sweetener with a thick consistency like honey because the fudge will not set as well. You can use a sugar-free sweetener that has a thin, maple syrup consistency.
