3 Ingredient Peppermint Fudge

This peppermint-flavored fudge is smooth and creamy. It is just 3 ingredients and easy to make. You don’t even need a candy thermometer or a stove to make it. The fudge also stores well.

This peppermint fudge is so festive. The fudge is smooth, creamy, with a little bit of crunchy topping from the crushed peppermint.

Ingredients

  • White Chocolate Chips
  • Condensed Milk
  • Peppermint Candies

White chocolate chips: White chocolate chips or white baking chips are melted down to form the base for this fudge. We recommend using a good quality brand of white baking chips and using a new unopened bag. Some cheaper brands of white baking chips don’t melt well. Old white baking chips or ones that have been previously opened also don’t melt well.

Condensed milk: This recipe is made with sweetened full fat condensed milk, which gives the fudge a smooth and creamy texture. We don’t recommend using dairy-free condensed milk alternatives as the fudge won’t set well.

Peppermint Candies: Finely crushed peppermint patties are used to flavor the fudge. You can also use crushed candy canes. You will want to crush them until they are very small crumbs. I recommend running them through a food processor.

How to Make Peppermint Fudge

  • Add the chocolate chips and condensed milk to a microwave-safe bowl. Heat in 15-30 second intervals, stirring in between, until the chocolate is melted and smooth.
  • Stir in the crushed peppermint candies.
  • Transfer the fudge mixture to a parchment lined loaf pan.
  • If desired, you can add some chopped or crushed peppermint candy on top for decoration. For the peppermint on top, you don’t want to crush them as finely. They can be the size of coarse crumbs.
  • Place into freezer until set.

Expert Tips

  • This recipe works best with a good quality brand of white baking chips. Don’t use dairy-free ones because they don’t set well.
  • It also works best with a new unopened bag of baking chips. Old white baking chips or ones that been previously opened don’t melt as well.
  • This fudge should also be made with full fat sweetened condensed milk. It will not set well with dairy-free condensed milk alternatives.
  • If you don’t want to use peppermint candies, you can also flavor the fudge with peppermint extract.
  • You can also double the recipe and use an 8 inch square pan if you want to make more fudge.

3 Ingredient Peppermint Fudge

Servings: 21 pieces
Prep Time: 5 minutes
Total Time: 5 minutes
Course: Dessert
Cuisine: American
This peppermint flavored fudge is creamy, smooth and easy to make. It only requires 3 ingredients. No need for a candy thermometer or hovering over a stove to make it.

Ingredients

  • 1 1/2 cups (264 g) white baking chips see notes before starting
  • 1/2 cup (118 ml/141 g ) sweetened full fat condensed milk at room temperature
  • 5 (25 g) peppermint candies, finely crushed to small crumbs

Instructions

  • Line the bottom of an 8 x 4 inch loaf pan with parchment paper, leaving some overhang for easy removal later.
  • Add white baking chips and condensed milk to a large microwave safe mixing bowl. Heat in 15-30 second intervals, stirring in between with a spatula until baking chips are completely melted and the mixture is uniform. Your mixture will be very thick. Mix in the finely crushed peppermint candies until they are evenly distributed.
  • Transfer the mixture to your prepared pan.
  • Use a spatula to spread the fudge mixture evenly across the bottom of the pan. If desired, you can top the surface with some additional crushed peppermint candies (I recommend making these bigger, about the size of coarse crumbs).
  • Place fudge into the freezer until set (about 30 minutes). The fudge is ready when it feels firm to the touch. Bring the fudge to room temperature before cutting with a sharp knife. Store uneaten fudge in the fridge or freezer.

Notes

  • In the US, white baking chips are commonly referred to as white chocolate chips which is why I use the two terms interchangeably. However, they are not technically white chocolate because they don't contain cocoa butter, so they are always labeled white baking chips or white morsels. White baking chips can be a little more difficult to melt than other types of chocolate chips. We recommend using a premium brand and starting with a new, not-yet-opened bag. Some cheaper brands don't melt well. In addition, if your baking chips are old or were previously opened and exposed to air, they also don't melt well.
  • Avoid using dairy-free vanilla baking chips. We have found that ones without dairy don't melt or set well. Enjoy Life brand does not work well.
  • Make sure you are using room temperature condensed milk. We don't recommend dairy-free condensed milk alternatives. The fudge will not set well with many of them.
  • Instead of peppermint candies, you can also use candy canes (just measure out 25 grams worth). We recommend pulsing the peppermint candies or candy canes in a food processor until they become finely crushed into small crumbs. You don't want the crumbs to be too big because you want them to almost blend into the fudge batter.
  • 25 grams refers to the total weight of peppermint candies. One peppermint candy weighs about 5 grams.
  • Instead of peppermint candies or candy canes you can also use peppermint extract. If using extract, add about 1/4 teaspoon to the fudge mixture.
  • For the optional crushed peppermint candies on top, I chopped 2 peppermint candies with a large knife until they were the size of coarse crumbs.
  • Estimated nutrition does not include optional peppermint candies on top of the fudge.
