I made a single serving Nutella brownie. It’s only 3 ingredients. And it’s outrageously good. It tastes just like the ultra chewy and fudgy box mix brownies.

All you need to do is mix the ingredients, pop it in the microwave for one minute and it’s ready.

It’s not the prettiest sight, but it’s so delicious. The edges are super chewy, just like the edge pieces on regular brownies.

I didn’t actually cook it in a ramekin. I cooked it in an oversized mug but then it’s really hard to see the brownie after it’s done, so I pulled it out and it fit nicely in a ramekin.

I did actually experiment with making one in the oven so that it would come out prettier (above photo). Unfortunately, it took a really, really long time to cook. After 25 minutes, I just lost patience and took it out. It had a very gooey center, but it wasn’t as chewy. I think it probably can work in the oven, but I probably needed to split the batter so that it’s a thinner layer.

  1. 1/4 cup is equals to 4 tablespoons. And according to the ingredients list, plush 1 table spoon. So you mean, 5 tablespoons in total?

  2. I really love the recipe, i have a dinner party next weekend i want to put this idea on my menu.. : )
Many Thanks for a superb idea

  3. I tried this today while my parents were out. Worked like a charm, although I forgot the extra Tbsp of Nutella, so I got a more cakey texture.

    • that extra 1 tbsp of Nutella really makes a difference for the fudgy, chewy texture, so definitely try that out next time! glad it worked out for you though!

  4. Hey there!
is the amount of time fixed or does it depend on the microwave?

  5. I tried this recipe out it didn’t really turn out like a “brownie texture” it was more like cake, and man was I really hoping it turned out like a brownie. I’m not quite sure what I did wrong but, yeah.

    • It should definitely come out ultra brownie texture. super chewy and fudgy and not cakey at all. did you do anything different? and did you make sure to add all the Nutella stated in the recipe because the Nutella is the key

  6. Delicioso!!!

  7. Yum yum yum!

  8. Mine came out very dry. Any ideas why?

    • did you add the full amount of Nutella? 1/4 cup + an additional 1 tbsp. If so it shouldn’t be dry at all. it should be extremely fudgy and moist

  9. Espectacular!!! me encantó, gracias por compartir la receta.

  10. Erm. 1/4 cup of Nutella and 1 tbsp Nutella. Where do you put the tbsp of Nutella, in your mouth whilst cooking it? :p

  11. I tried this because I wanted to make a chocolate cake / brownie but there wasn’t any chocolate or cacao powder left, so I tried this, and IT’S SO DELICIOUS!
So thanks for sharing this recipe! 😀

  12. This is really good, I loved it a LOT. When I was eating it, I noticed a bit of nutella I hadn’t quite mixed in, so I tried it again, this time with a dollop of nutella on top. This recipe makes quite a nice self saucing pudding.

  13. I’m eating my Nutella brownie as I’m typing this, and let me tell you – it’s GLORIOUS. I think I’m practically crying from the deliciousness. Thank you for sharing this recipe (:

  14. This is the first mug cake recipe I have not been disappointed in. I decided to try it today out of pure boredom, and I wasn’t sure how it would come out since all of my previous attempts had been failures. I am so glad I tried it! I actually ate it because it tasted good, not because I didn’t want to waste it. This is amazing and I will definitely be making it again!

  15. Out of curiosity, do you think Egg Substitute would work with this recipe? I rarely use eggs, so I never have them in the house.

  16. I found that I needed to cook them for about 2 to 2.5 minutes in the microwave when I put them in ramekins.

  17. Hello! I have some left over self-raising flour left, hence I was wondering. Is it possible to use self-raising flour for this recipe instead of all purpose flour?

    • not sure..i haven’t tried it with self rising. the recipe doesnt have a rising agent in it so if you add one, it will alter the texture and i’m not sure if you’ll still have the brownie texture

  18. Hiya kirbie! Love your ingredients, but I’m always confused with the whole cup thing! How many grams is a cup of Nutella? And is a cup of something else e.g flour, different?? Sorry about this!

    • Hi Mim, the ingredients are measured in US measuring cups. I’m sorry I don’t know the conversions but I’m sure if you do a search, there are usually many sites that provide conversion for popular ingredients.

  19. 1/4 cup of Nutella? Is that what you meant?

  20. its really delicious in the oven its a little bit gooey but i like it!
btw: i love all our recipes

  21. I just tried it and it was awesome!  It’s a good thing you clarified to use only 2 tbsp of whisked eggs, that detail would have escaped me.

  22. Kind of a stupid question, but you just crack the eggs, whisk them and throw them in the microwave? Nothing more, it just cooks by itself?

    • Well not exactly. the recipe only uses 2 tsbp of a whisked egg, not an entire egg. And you’ll need to whisk the other ingredients in as well.

  23. I’m mobile & not seeing ingredients! Help!!

  24. All I see are the pictures…where are the ingredients?

  25. WHAT ARE THE INGREDIENTS????

  26. i dont have a microwave! can i do it in the oven in individual suffle bowls? if so what oven heat and how many munites?

  27. Very tasty! And how many watts is your microwave? Because mine is 1200 wats.

  28. Delish! I tried to also do it in the oven, and the inside wasn’t to cooked, but in the microwave, it’s awesome!

    • I’m glad you like it. I agree, the oven makes it almost like a lava cake, but the microwave has the fudgy chewy texture.

  29. I just made this for my 5 y/o and the hardest part was waiting for it to set. It was delicious and the perfect snowy day snack! Thank you for sharing.
