These blueberry bagels are easy to make. The dough takes just a few minutes to prepare and you can mix everything by hand.

Ingredients

  • Blueberries
  • Almond flour
  • Baking powder
  • Greek yogurt

Blueberries: Fresh blueberries are added to the bagels to give them their blueberry flavor.

Almond flour: This recipe uses superfine almond flour which mimics the texture of flour best.

Baking powder: Baking powder is added to help the bagels rise. Make sure to use aluminum free baking powder to eliminate any potential metallic aftertaste.

Greek yogurt: The bagels are made with plain Greek yogurt. You can also use a low carb or zero added sugar vanilla Greek yogurt if you want the bagels to have more sweetness. I prefer using just plain Greek yogurt. The vanilla Greek yogurt makes the bagels taste a little more like donuts.

How to Make Keto Blueberry Bagels

  • The almond flour and baking powder are mixed together. The yogurt is then added in. Stir and then knead in the yogurt until a soft, workable dough forms. Gently fold in the blueberries.
  • Divide the dough into 8 equal portions. Shape each dough on your prepared baking sheet into rounds and poke a hole in the center.
  • Bake bagels for about 20-25 minutes or until done. You can also cook the bagels in an air fryer.

Texture

These bagels don’t have the same texture as traditional bagels. They are soft, tender and bread-like. I still think they make a nice low carb bagel alternative even though they are not as chewy as regular bagels.

Expert Tips

  • You can add an egg wash finish on top to help the bagels bake up more golden brown, but it is optional. Your bagels will just be paler without the egg wash finish. If you cook the bagels in the air fryer, they brown well even without egg wash.
  • I prefer cooking the bagels in the air fryer because they have a more crispy exterior and are fluffier on the inside. They also take less time to cook.
  • Make sure to use aluminum-free baking powder. This recipe uses more baking powder because of the almond flour and if you use a baking powder with aluminum, it can leave a metallic aftertaste.
  • These bagels are not as big as traditional bagels. They are more the size of mini bagels.

4 Ingredient Keto Blueberry Bagels

These 4-ingredient keto blueberry bagels are soft and tender. Made with almond flour and Greek yogurt, they bake up tender and cozy in the oven or can be made in the air fryer for an even quicker option—perfect for breakfast, meal prep, or a quick snack when a bagel craving hits.

Ingredients

  • 2 cups (183g) blanched super fine almond flour, or more as needed
  • 1 tbsp (11 g) aluminum-free baking powder
  • 1 cup (228g) plain Greek yogurt
  • 2/3 cup (90g) fresh blueberries

Instructions

  • Preheat the oven to 350°F (175°C) and line two baking sheets with parchment paper.
  • In a large bowl, whisk together the almond flour and baking powder. Add in the yogurt. Switching to a spatula, mix until the yogurt is fully incorporated. Knead the dough by hand for about 2-3 minutes or until the mixture becomes a dough that you can roll and work with. If your dough is too sticky to knead, add more almond flour until the dough is workable. The amount of almond flour needed will vary depending on how much moisture is in the yogurt you use.
  • Gently fold in the blueberries, being careful not to crush them.
  • Divide the dough evenly into eight portions and shape each into a ball and place onto one of your prepared baking sheets. Use your finger to poke a hole in the center of each ball and gently stretch into a bagel shape. Space the bagels about 1.5 to 2 inches apart.
  • Optional step: If baking the bagels in the oven, brushing the tops with egg wash will produce a more golden brown finish. The bagels will still bake up without the egg wash but they will be paler. The bagels brown well without the egg wash if cooking in the air fryer, though you can also add egg wash for air fryer version for a slightly glossy finish. If adding egg wash, beat one egg with whisk in a small bowl. Then brush beaten egg mixture over the surface of each of the bagels.
  • Bake for 20-25 minutes, or until golden on the surface and cooked through. If cooking in the air fryer, cook at 350°F (175°C) for about 10-12 minutes.
  • Let cool slightly before serving. Uneaten bagels should be stored in an airtight container in the fridge or freezer.

Notes

  • Try to use a thick, high protein Greek yogurt. If your yogurt is more runny, you will need more almond flour.
