photo of the outside of Boba Bar and DessertsThe second location of Boba Bar and Desserts opened last week. It’s located in the same plaza as Kula Sushi, Iceskimo, and Shanghai Saloon. While the original location inside Zion Market will continue to concentrate on shaved ice and boba drinks, the second location focuses on puffle cones, Italian ice, and drinks.

The space is small, but there are a few tables to sit at and some inspirational quotes on the walls to take photos with.

There are several Italian ice flavors to choose from. After tasting a few, Mr. K opted for the Big Red flavor. It also comes with either Dole Whip or vanilla custard. We chose Dole Whip. The cup is first packed with Dole Whip, then Italian ice, and then more Dole Whip on top.

We also tried out their puffle cone, offered in classic, chocolate and matcha flavors. As you may recall, we tried out their test run of puffle cones at their original location. Since this location doesn’t carry all the ice creams, they instead serve it with soft serve custard. You can add various toppings to your cone or choose from a pre-designed cone.

We’re the Perfect Matcha has a matcha puffle cone base, custard, red beans, pocky sticks and matcha powder.

Because they are using a custard soft serve, this melted rather fast, especially once the toppings are put on. It’s also served in a cup, which makes it easier to eat, but less photogenic. I enjoyed the egg waffle cone, which was crisp on the outside and soft and fluffy on the inside. I do wish there were more ice cream choices. A Perfect Matcha doesn’t seem complete without matcha ice cream.

Overall, we had a good first visit here. I like that the two locations offer different desserts and drinks, providing incentive to continue to visit both. The staff was nice and helpful and there is a good variety of desserts to choose from. We’ll be back to try some of the drinks next time.
