After so much mention of Class 302 in my snow ice rankings, I thought I’d share some of my recent revisits both for the ice and the food.
Since opening a second location in Irvine, we’ve visited several times. My initial post can be found here. One of the nice options at the Irvine location is that you can actually get the snow ice to go if you don’t want to wait for a table. Another good thing is that the space at Irvine is much larger so the wait isn’t nearly as long as the Rowland Heights location. The menu is similar at both and so is the decor which is supposed to evoke memories of Taiwanese classrooms.
Taiwanese Rice Hot Dog
One of my favorite snacks at the street vendors in Taiwan is a Taiwanese sausage on a stick that is wrapped in a roll of glutinous rice. The glutinous rice roll is actually shaped like a sausage too so it ends up looking like a sausage stuffed inside a sausage. I was happy to see them offer a version of it here, though all cut up instead of on a stick.
Unfortunately, the end product was nothing like the picture. In the picture, these are served on little spoon and the sausage is stuffed into the rice. Instead, it was just served as clumps of both.
Squid Stew with Noodles
Another Taiwanese street eat. The soup broth is made to be very thick, almost like a stew. It’s filled with noodles, bamboo strips and chunks of ground squid. This was actually a pretty good version, though maybe a little heavy on the black pepper.
Stinky Tofu
This wasn’t a very good version. The tofu didn’t have enough fermentation and tasted quite mild.
Of course, the meal would not be complete without snow ice. For some reason, the Irvine location does not offer my favorite combination: milk snow with mangoes and mochi. Luckily, they let me order the Golden Mango and replace the mango base with the milk base, which then basically becomes my favorite combination.

We’ve actually also been to the Rowland Heights location quite a few times for snow ice recently because my friends know how much I love it. Here’s some of the ones we’ve had:

I really love the snow ice here. It falls in thin ribboning sheets, the consistency is not too icy, all the flavors offered are pretty good, condensed milk is included in the price, and the portions are much bigger than most of the other places I’ve been too.

i like those yellow apple shaped bowls! so cute! the triangular bowls, however, looks like it’s not large enough to hold the snow ice. i mean it does, but since i’m a messy person, i could see the dessert dripping down the sides and getting wasted. the hot dog snack sounds good but too bad it wasn’t the way they do it in taiwan.
I think they do it on purpose to make it seem so big and overflowing. I know what you mean about a mess though. It does drip a little, though most of the drips usually go into the plate underneath the bowl. I love the cute apple bowls too! Those are only at the Irvine location. The RH location uses regular white bowls.
mmm snow ice. I am still kicking myself for not getting it last time I was at Class 302! I need to go back! (Thankfully Irvine isn’t as far as RH, hehe.)
Haha, I was thinking about that when I wrote this. Definitely go back and get the snow ice!
