After watching GD Bro Burger on the most recent season of The Great Food Truck Race, we were excited to check out their brick and mortar location in Santa Ana.
Their menu features stuffed gourmet burgers, fries, and milkshakes. The over-the-top looking milkshakes that I saw on Instagram had me drooling, but unfortunately their machine wasn’t working during our visit. (Sob!)
Juan & Only
Jalapeno cream cheese, pico de gallo, avocado chipotle mayo. They offer two types of buns for their burgers: a normal brioche bun or a raspberry flavored bun. Their raspberry red bun is their signature bun, so I opted to try it. The bun was sturdy, with a good chewy texture, but I didn’t like the subtle sweetness from the raspberries. Otherwise, I quite enjoyed the bun.
The patty was moist and juicy and the burger as a whole was flavorful, though next time I might add a few more toppings to it.
KBBQ Poutine Burger
Mozzarella cheese, thick cuts of korean bbq-style short rib, burger patty and topped with chives and sesame seeds. Of the two, I preferred this one, especially with the double helping of meat. It was a flavor packed burger, but well balanced.
Parmesan Truffle Fries
I always crave fries with my burger. We were quite tempted by the KBBQ poutine fries, but thought it would be too much food. So we got the thin-cut, parmesan and truffle fries. There was some honey mixed in one of the sauces drizzled on top which I could have done without, but that’s probably because I don’t usually like the mix of sweet and salty.
Overall, we were pretty happy with the burgers here. Sometimes I try the places featured on The Great Food Truck Race and leave very disappointed, but these stuffed burgers were enjoyable and creative.

I have never in my life seen a bun like that! At first I thought it was a grilled tomato (which might also be tasty! but I don’t think it would be a burger anymore). I can’t wait to go to San Diego again – I want to try this place! I’m making a list of places I want to go when I return for a friend’s wedding in the summer 🙂
there are so many fun places! plus so much yoga too!
