A few friends were visiting for the day in San Diego and wanted to do some craft beer tasting since San Diego is home to more than 40 beer breweries.
One of the places we went to was Green Flash, which I had been to once briefly. The tours are only $5 and you get four tastes at the end, so we started out with the tour.
The tour was pretty entertaining and I learned quite a few things. It wasn’t too long, and soon we were enjoying our free beer tastes.
We were impressed with the beer and the reasonable prices and all ended up buying some to-go as well. There’s about 12 different beers offered, ranging from 5 to 10% in alcohol. For any beer not offered during the tour to taste, you can buy tasters for just $1. An 8 oz glass is offered at a mere $2 and a 16 oz glass at $4.
Normally I don’t like stout beers, but I found myself really enjoying the double stout offered and it ended up being one of my favorites.
It’s standing room only inside the brewery, but they have picnic tables outside and they often have a food truck on weekends. You can view the food truck schedule on their website.
There’s a lot of big and popular breweries in the North section of San Diego, but if you’re looking for something a little more central, I think Green Flash is worth a visit. It’s also just a nice way to enjoy the afternoon with some friends.
