photo of a Mocha Mug Cake topped with whipped cream

How good does this look?

Mocha is my favorite espresso beverage to order at a coffee shop. So I decided to turn it into a mug cake. I even decorated it with whipped cream and chocolate sauce so it looks just like the drink.

I love the fact that it’s a coffee flavored cake cooked in a coffee mug.
You can taste both the chocolate powder and the espresso in the drink.  And the cake comes out nice and moist.

Mocha Mug Cake

I took my favorite coffee shop drink and turned it into an easy-to-make mug cake.

Ingredients

  • 4 tbsp all purpose flour
  • 2 tbsp unsweetened cocoa powder
  • 5 1/2 tbsp granulated sugar
  • 2 tsp espresso powder
  • 1/4 tsp baking powder
  • 1 egg
  • 3 tbsp milk
  • 3 tbsp vegetable oil

Instructions

  • Mix all ingredients into an oversized mug. You can also split batter into two mugs to make two servings.
  • Cook in microwave for about 1 1/2 minutes. If making two cups, cook each separately for about 1 min 10 seconds. Top with whipped cream and drizzle melted chocolate sauce.
