Nutella Custard Pie

After successfully making a magic custard pie and Nutella magic cake bars, of course I had to try making a Nutella custard pie.

Magic pie and magic bars are not quite the same. The custard pie only has two layers whereas the magic cake bars have three layers. Both recipes work in a similar fashion, where the dessert magically forms layers during the baking. The pie isn’t as cool looking, but it’s super super easy to make.

It takes less than five minute to assemble the batter and it’s ready to go in the oven.

I love the silky custard.

I personally prefer the magic cake bars because I really love that third cake layer and I love how the triple layers look. This doesn’t look nearly as cool, but it is tasty and something you can make when pinched for time.

This pie is very easy to make and while it bakes it magically forms two separate layers.

Ingredients:

  • 1/4 cup butter room temperature
  • 4 eggs
  • 1/2 cup granulated sugar
  • 2 cups milk
  • 1/2 cup Nutella
  • 1/2 cup all purpose flour

Directions:

  1. Preheat oven to 350°F. Grease a 9-inch pie pan. Add all ingredients into a blender. Blend on high speed until thoroughly mixed and no lumps remain. Pour into pan. until 2/3 full. For the remaining batter, you can pour into a smaller pie pan or into small ramekins. Bake 9-inch pie for about 45 minutes until custard is set. Smaller pie or ramekins will need less time depending on size.

  1. I do not have a blender. Can i use mixer instead to blend the ingredients?

    • Most likely no. The batter is very liquidy so if you try to mix everything on high speed with mixers, I think it will just splash everywhere. Especially since the butter goes in solid. I guess you can try melting the butter first and attempting it, but I’m not sure if it will work.

  2. Oh no!! I really want to try this recipe..Maybe i shalll buy a blender :p

  3. yaa but bake at what temperature? i’m bummed
