This is my newest Nutella love. Pancakes that taste like Nutella donuts. Combining three loves into one. And they look cute too.
Nutella Donut Pancakes with chocolate drizzle
I had been wanting to make Nutella pancakes for a while. Then last week, I came across this Doughnut Pancakes recipe from Cooking Classy and was immediately drawn to the genius of it. Doughnut and pancakes in one? Yes please!

So I combined my desire to make Nutella pancakes, with the idea from Cooking Classy. I’ve made baked donut muffins before which taste a lot like cake donuts, so I tweaked the recipe to add some Nutella. To my surprise, when I cooked it, the batter cooked just like pancake batter, even having bubbles appear like when you make pancakes.

It was a little hard to make them doughnut shaped since the batter kept spreading when I cooked them. But if you use the spatula to force a hole in the middle while it is cooking, it will stay.

These cook really quickly, so careful not to burn them. I loved how these tasted. Just like Nutella flavored cake donuts, but in a pancake form.

Cuisine: American
This is my newest Nutella love. Pancakes that taste like Nutella donuts. Combining three loves into one. And they look cute too.

Ingredients

  • 3/4 cup minus 2 tbsp sugar
  • 1 large egg
  • 1 1/2 cups all purpose flour
  • 2 tsp baking power
  • 1/4 tsp salt
  • 1/4 tsp ground nutmeg
  • 1/4 cup vegetable oil
  • 3/4 cup fat free milk
  • 1 tsp vanilla extract
  • 1/2 cup Nutella

Instructions

  • In a large bowl, whisk together sugar and egg until combined. Add in flour, baking powder, salt and nutmeg. Then mix in vegetable oil, milk, Nutella and vanilla extract. Stir until everything is combined.
  • Heat skillet to medium heat and spray with oil. Once heated, pour some batter in, making a circle motion. You can also put batter in a piping bag and squeeze a circle. If batter spreads too much and covers hole in the middle, manually make a hole with spatula while batter is still cooking. Flip donut pancake when bottom is cooked and solid enough to flip. Cook for a few more moments on other side until cooked, and then remove from skillet. Serve warm with powdered sugar or chocolate syrup.
