Seasons 52 recently opened a second location in San Diego, inside The Headquarters. We visited for lunch on Sunday, taking advantage of the first day of San Diego Restaurant Week.
Grilled Garlic Chicken Pesto Flatbread
For his appetizer, Mr. K chose the chicken flatbread. The crispy and cracker-thin flatbreads are a popular item on the Seasons 52 menu. We usually enjoy the flatbreads and this one was no exception. It was a good balance of toppings and the chicken and pesto paired nicely together.
Chicken Curry Soup
I resisted the urge to order a different flatbread for my starter, instead opting for the seasonal soup. It was thick and hearty, served with some warm multi-grain bread.
Rocky Mountain Buffalo Burger
The simple burger really allowed the gamey buffalo meat to be the star. Oftentimes, exotic game meat burgers are cooked with too many spices and garnishes, masking the meat flavor completely. This was not the case here. I could definitely tell I was eating buffalo meat.
Chicken Caprese Sandwich
The sandwich was well-prepared: toasted bread, chicken patty, melted mozzarella cheese, basil and pesto.
Tamale Tots
This is an unusual item that I’ve never seen before until now and we both really enjoyed it. The tots are coated in bread crumbs, forming a satisfying crunchy exterior. They are filled with creamy tamale.
Oven Roasted Potatoes
This was the one big disappointment from our lunch. The potato wedges had bitter burnt edges and tough, leathery skin.
Mini Indulgences
One of their signature items are the mini indulgence desserts. The entire line of flavors is always brought out at the end of the meal for an enticing presentation. The Restaurant Week meal includes one mini indulgence, so we each chose a flavor.
Mocha Macchiato
Layers of a coffee flavored mousse mixed with chocolate and cream. This was quite delightful and was a great ending to the meal.
Rocky Road
We didn’t enjoy this one quite as much. It was basically chocolate cake with a thick layer of overly sweet chocolate frosting.
Overall, we had a good meal here. We’ve visited the Seasons 52 inside the UTC mall several times and have always had good experiences. The service is always friendly and the food is well executed and flavorful, so much so that you can’t quite believe that each dish is under 475 calories.

I’m heading here for dinner tonight – those tamale tots look/sound so interesting! I have never seen anything like those before either. What kind of sauces are those that it came with?
I’d never seen tamale tots either. they were good! I think it was aioli and bbq. I can’t quite remember since I had two different ones for the fries.
