I have an exciting product review and giveaway to tell you about today.
You know how much I love my mug cakes. Well, I recently sampled the Mugging! line by Shirley J. Think box cake mix meets mug cakes. Cake mix flavors are packaged into individual servings that can be made in the microwave. Genius right?
I think my made-from-scratch mug cakes are already pretty easy, but these mug cakes are even easier. Most of them require only that you add a few tablespoons of water to the mix, whisk, and it’s ready to go in the microwave. 90 seconds later, your cake is ready.
There are currently eight flavors and I was lucky enough to try all eight. I might have tried all 8 in just two sittings, which I wouldn’t recommend doing on a daily basis, but I wanted to make sure I taste tested them all before forgetting what one tasted like.
I was also provided with these cute oversized mugs. As someone who loves collecting mugs, I was so excited to add these to my collection. You’ll definitely be seeing them on the blog again. You won’t have to worry about the cakes overflowing because these mugs are really big.
The first one I tried was the chocolate brownie cake, which is their most popular flavor. It came out nice and fluffy. It tasted like chocolate cake more than a brownie but it was tasty.
I also really loved the walnut bread and old fashioned yellow cake.
The walnut bread tastes just like a quick bread and has a healthy dose of cinnamon. The old fashioned yellow cake was a very simple cake that did remind me of the old fashioned no fuss cakes. Some might find it plain (like Mr. K), but I really enjoy my simple cakes. If you want, you can add some fruit and other things and it’s a great base for a cobbler.
Like with any line of goods, there were some I liked more than others. The cornbread didn’t quite do it for me, the texture felt off and the cornmeal flavor a little too sweet. I loved the intense chocolate flavor of the gluten free brownie but found the texture to be too grainy.
I really enjoyed a few others, but they just didn’t quite make my top three.

All the flavors sounds pretty good but I would have to say that I would love to try the corn bread the most. There is just something really nice about a moist cornbread.
