I’ve been obsessed with trying to make an eggless brownie using avocado as a substitute. I’ve made ones that a little complicated, but I really wanted to make a super easy one because I get really lazy about making brownies from scratch.

Three attempts later and I finally have something that was satisfying. These brownies are quite fudgy as a result of the avocado. The recipe is also only four ingredients. overhead photo of Eggless Avocado Brownies

These brownies are quite fudgy as a result of the avocado and you only need four ingredients.

Ingredients

  • 1 cup semisweet chocolate chips
  • 1/2 cup flour
  • 1/4 cup mashed avocado about half of a large Hass avocado
  • 1/4 cup brown sugar

Instructions

  • Preheat oven to 350°F. Grease a 9 x 5 pan. Melt chocolate chips in microwave at 30-second intervals, stirring in between until chocolate is melted and smooth. Mine needed 1 minute.
  • In food processor, place chocolate, flour, avocado and brown sugar until batter forms. Batter will be thick, like cookie batter.
  • Press batter into pan and spread evenly. Bake for about 11-15 minutes until done.

  1. Hello I have what’s called Angioedema and can’t have daily and eggs and cheese is there any cookies receip you have that are easy to make that don’t include these plus banana and strawberries and nuts I can’t have either

  2. Délicious batter! Still in the oven! Just added some raspberries!

  3. Just popped these in the oven, and they look great! The labels were wearing off my cheap plastic measuring cups, so I accidentally doubled the sugar…decided to offset the increased sweetness/thickness with a small cup of brewed coffee. Worked like a charm!
I’m vegan and try to focus on healthy fats in my cooking, so these are perfect. Thanks!

  4. Is this a stupid question but is it plain or self rising flour?

    • all my recipes are plain flour unless i specify differently since plain flour is the most commonly used. if it’s anything different than i will indicate so in the recipe.

  5. I Dont think I made this correctly. I didn’t have chocolate chips on hand so I made a 1/4 cup cocoa mix slurry and mixed it in with the rest of ingredients. The brownie became kind of gummy. I will try this again with melted chocolate chips.

  6. Just made a batch – delicious! I love how there are so few ingredients! I’ll use a smaller pan for my second batch, though. The brownies ended up really thin…

    • If you see my pictures, mine were pretty thin too. You can definitely make them thicker with a smaller pan, but you might have to adjust the cooking time.

  7. I love this idea. One of my taste testers is allergic to eggs, and I can’t get her to eat avocado so this might work. Perfect! I pinned it. Thanks.

  8. Wow, we have a couple in our circle of friends where one is allergic to eggs and the other to dairy. I’d say these will be perfect!
    Thanks!
    🙂
