Sea & Smoke

This weekend Mr. K and I had brunch at Sea & Smoke so I could try their Cinnamon Roll Sandwich.

I’m already a huge fan of the famous cinnamon roll which is served at all three of Matt Gordan’s restaurants (Urban Solace, Solace & the Midnight Lounge, and Sea & Smoke) and I don’t normally even eat cinnamon rolls. So when I first heard that Sea & Smoke offered a Cinnamon Roll sandwich, I thought the idea was genius.

Brunch is served everyday from 8:30am to 3:30pm, giving customers plenty of time to visit. Since it was a nice day, we chose to sit outside on the patio for a leisurely late brunch.

Cinnamon Roll Sammie

This was as good as I had imagined. Two thick slices of cinnamon roll bread, ham, bacon, cheese and a fried egg in the middle. This was an indulgent, but completely worthy calorie splurge. The salty ham, bacon and cheese balance out the sweet cinnamon roll. The cinnamon roll bread manages to retain all the qualities of the popular cinnamon bun: fluffy layers, sticky sweet cinnamon swirls, but without being too messy to hold and eat like a sandwich.

Mr. K and I thoroughly enjoyed every bite.

Croque-Ma Daaam

While we liked the clever name, we weren’t nearly as impressed with the actual sandwich. We both found it to be too salty. Next time, we’ll try something else.

The brunch menu is pretty extensive so we can’t wait to come back another time for more. I enjoyed the outdoor atmosphere and the extended brunch hours and will definitely be making more trips back.

  1. I saw a photo of the cinnamon roll sandwich on Thrillist – it looks so rich! Was the cinnamon roll grilled? I can’t decide if I would like this or not but you make it sound very yummy 🙂

    • Oh it was on Thrillist too? I saw someone tweet about it and on B&J’s blog. Hmm, I’m not sure if the roll was grilled.

  2. I really like their outdoor patio space. Inside is nice too but my friend and i enjoyed the beautiful weather during our recent visit (dessert only). I’ll have to try their happy hour and/or brunch menu one of these days.
