SuperNatural Sandwiches recently expanded to a new and bigger location, having outgrown their previous space. We were definitely excited by the change and had to go check it out.
The new space is actually located in the same plaza as the previous location, but at a corner suite. The restaurant now has a much larger seating area, with both indoor and outdoor seats and a bar area. The menu, when we visited, was still the same, though I’ve seen some photos on Instagram of upcoming new dishes.
Aphrodite
Bacon and shrimp grilled cheese. We really love the preparation of the shrimp here, garlicky and lightly battered. We always try to order at least one dish with the shrimp and this one was a good one. The bacon and shrimp both pack a lot of flavor and the diced tomatoes help to balance out the sandwich. I think next time I might add the fried egg too.
Neptune
After the Siren, this is my second favorite sandwich here. I love the plump bay scallops which pair well with the smoky bacon. The toasted brioche bun is just sturdy enough to hold the sandwich together. All sandwiches here are served with seasoned shrimp chips.
Maple Bacon Pretzel Waffle Macaron Ice Cream Sandwich
The restaurant always carries a variety of macaron ice cream sandwiches made by a local baker, San Diego Macarons. In honor of the new location, she created this new flavor.
How adorable are the macaron shells? We almost always end our meal with a macaron ice cream sandwich here and this chocolate and pretzel dipped one is definitely a fun one.
Overall, we had another great meal here. SuperNatural Sandwiches continues to remain one of our favorite spots in San Diego and we’re happy to see the new expanded space and outdoor seating. The staff is always friendly and attentive and we’ll be back soon.
