Roast Meat & Sandwich Shop recently opened inside Liberty Public Market. The small shop offers a variety of roasted meats like porchetta, roast beef, prime rib and chicken. You can get fresh-made sandwiches, bowls, a combination box of meat and sides, and they also have daily featured meats.
I stopped in recently while visiting Liberty Public Market to get some items for dinner. I was especially interested in their porchetta.
Porchetta
I ordered half a pound which ended up being about one thick slice. The skin was as crunchy and satisfying as I had hoped it would be. The meat was moist and tender though it didn’t have much flavor. I also purchased their Salsa Verde sauce which went really well with the meat and made up for any lack of flavor in the pork.
Chicharron
The Chicharron was calling out to me when I was ordering, so I couldn’t resist getting a piece. I liked the thickness of it and it didn’t lose its crunch even after being in the fridge.
Prime Rib Sandwich
Friday through Sunday they offer prime rib, which you can get as a full dinner, bowl, or sandwich. I chose a sandwich. It was pretty tasty, though I do wish there had been more meat.
Overall, we enjoyed Roast. If you’re craving porchetta or other roasted meats, it’s a great option in San Diego to pick up some food for a meal. The staff was friendly and I liked watching them carve the meats while I waited.
