Sheet Pan Egg-In-A-Hole is an easy way to cook egg-in-a-hole in the oven on a single sheet pan, instead of hovering over the stove. It’s a quick and easy way to make several servings at once for brunch or breakfast.
Egg-in-a-hole is one of my favorite easy breakfasts to make on the weekend. There’s just something so fun and whimsical about stuffing an egg in the middle of the bread. I’ve also made Breakfast Muffins with Eggs Inside that are another fun way to serve eggs for breakfast.
What I really love about this oven method is that I can make several of them at once, which is especially useful when feeding a large group or family.
With this method, all the egg-in-a-hole toasts are cooked at the same time so you don’t need to worry about the earlier batches getting cold, which often happens when I’m trying to make these on the stove.
These were so quick and easy. To make them a little fancier, I used brioche bread I bought from Trader Joe’s. The thick slices of buttery brioche really elevate this simple dish. But if you don’t have brioche, you can stick with regular sandwich bread as well.
Recipe Tips
- I was able to fit 8 slices of brioche bread onto one sheet pan. If the bread slices you are using are bigger, you can reduce the quantity you are making or split the breads across two sheet pans. If you are using bigger slices of bread, you may also want to use a bigger biscuit cutter.
- You can use the cut-out pieces of bread for croutons, egg toasts muffin cups, mini sandwiches, etc.
Sheet Pan Egg-In-A-Hole
Ingredients
- 8 slices of bread
- 8 large eggs
- 2 slices of cooked bacon roughly chopped (optional, for garnish)
- 2 scallions thinly sliced
- salt and pepper to taste
Instructions
- Preheat oven to 400°F. Lightly grease the surface of a sheet pan with cooking oil spray.
- Use a 2.5 inch biscuit cutter to cut out the center of each slice of bread. Save the cut-out bread circles for another recipe (I used mine to make egg toast muffin cups).
- Place toasts onto sheet pan. Crack an egg into the center of each toast. Cook in the oven for 8-10 minutes, or until egg whites are set. Garnish with bacon and scallions. Season egg with salt and pepper, to taste. Serve immediately.
