Cardellino is the newest restaurant from the Trust Restaurant Group, located in Mission Hills. The restaurant serves fresh-baked pastries and an Italian-American inspired menu.
The all-day eatery features a bakery and cafe section and restaurant. The bakery display offered an array of sweet and savory goods. It was hard to decide which ones to try as they all looked pretty good.
We started our meal with the trio of items we chose from the bakery case: banana bread, jalapeno cheese tart, and a chocolate chip cookie.
We enjoyed all three items and would definitely come back to try some more items.
Oven Roasted Broccoli
This was our favorite dish from our meal. The roasted broccoli was so flavorful when mixed with raisins, spiced almonds, lentils, oregano vinaigrette. And we really enjoyed the paprika aioli as well.
Meatballs
The meatballs were served with salted ricotta and grilled focaccia bread. I did find the meat to be overseasoned, making the dish a little on the salty side.
Fungi Pizza
All their pizzas here are served with ranch dressing. We opted for the Fungi pizza which is topped with mozzarella, roasted mushrooms, soft garlic, ricotta, thyme, pecorino.
Overall we had a nice first meal here. I would like to come back for dinner to try more dishes. I also want to try the ice cream and some more items from the bakery. The service was very friendly and attentive during our visit.
