These last few months I’ve shared several healthier recipe posts which I’ve been making to help maintain a healthier lifestyle. Not necessarily for weight loss, but so I can feel more alert and energized. I plan on continuing to share more and hopefully, you’ll find some of them helpful to you as well. Today I’m sharing a green tea smoothie.

As far as healthy eating, January was easiest, as everyone seemed to have the same mindset. But now there’s been Super Bowl Sunday, Valentine’s Day, and long weekends and it’s definitely getting harder to stick to good eating habits.

I still try my best to eat well during the workweek. I make healthy lunches and dinners, avoid eating out too much, etc.  Born Sweet® Zing™ Zero Calorie Stevia Sweetener has been extremely useful. I’ve turned to it often to sweeten up my daily drinks, whether it be my morning coffee, breakfast or afternoon smoothie, or afternoon tea.

Lately, I’ve been making a lot of green tea smoothie recipes. I’ve expressed my love for matcha green tea. It’s such a beautiful color, has a number of health benefits and antioxidants, contains caffeine for my afternoon energy boost, and I just really enjoy the taste. I love to make green tea lattes, but for a refreshing cold treat, this green tea smoothie has been my go-to.

On its own, matcha powder has a very strong, bitter flavor, so some sweetener is definitely needed. I also use plain nonfat Greek yogurt for my smoothies. Plain Greek yogurt has a lot of protein, which helps keep me full. I always choose plain so I can control the sweetness.

  • Plain non-fat Greek strained yogurt
  • Fat-free milk
  • 2 packets Zing™ Zero Calorie Stevia Sweetener
  • Premium grade matcha green tea powder
  • Crushed ice

Place all of the ingredients in a blender. Secure the lid and blend until the mixture is smooth. Pour into glasses and serve the smoothie cold.

Recipe Tips

Milk: I like fat-free milk, but any milk will work including almond milk, coconut milk, or other non-dairy milk.

Sweetener: Feel free to use your favorite sweeteners like honey, agave syrup, or other sweetened syrups.

Other Flavors: You can add a small amount of vanilla extract or other extracts that you like for additional flavor.

Add-Ins: You can add things to this smoothie like a little lemon juice, frozen bananas, avocado, or fresh spinach for an extra nutrition boost. You made need to add more milk so it’s not too thick.

I love this matcha green tea smoothie recipe – it’s light, refreshing, and filling without weighing me down. I also love that it’s not loaded with sugar. I hope you give it a try!
