Nutella Swirled Pumpkin Mug Cake

A single serving Nutella swirled pumpkin mug cake. This fluffy pumpkin spice cake is made even more delicious with the addition of Nutella.

Nutella and pumpkin is a great combination. Every year I make Nutella Swirl Pumpkin Cookies and Pumpkin Nutella Cakes.

But I was craving something a little smaller, so I decided to make a single serving Nutella swirled pumpkin mug cake. This cake is so fluffy and full of pumpkin spices. The ingredient list looks pretty long for such a small cake but that is because of all the spices. If you want, you can leave out the cloves and ginger but I like having all four spices.

And of course, don’t leave out the Nutella!

Nutella Swirled Pumpkin Mug Cake

A single serving pumpkin mug cake mixed with swirls of Nutella spread.


  • 4 tbsp all purpose flour
  • 1/4 tsp baking powder
  • 2 tbsp granulated white sugar
  • 2 tbsp fat free milk
  • 1/2 tbsp vegetable oil
  • 2 tbsp pumpkin puree
  • 1/8 tsp ground cinnamon
  • 1/8 tsp ground nutmeg
  • 1/16 tsp ground ginger
  • 1/16 tsp ground cloves
  • 1 tbsp Nutella spread


  1. In a large microwave-safe mug, add all ingredients except Nutella. Mix with a small whisk until no lumps remain in the batter.
  2. Add Nutella to a small bowl and heat up in microwave for about 10-15 seconds to soften Nutella. Drop Nutella into batter and swirl a few times with a fork. Place mug into microwave and cook at full power for about 1 minute and 15 seconds or until cake is done. Allow cake to cool a few minutes before eating.

  2. How nice the cake is. It looks like it is easy to make. But it seems that at this moment, I don’t see any pumpkins in the market. Can I use something instead?
