Trader Joe’s August Edition

Sharing my August grocery haul from Trader Joe’s including some new products and featured Fearless Flyer items like chocolate hummus, ketchup crunchies, and Italian bomba sauce. And of course, I’ve also got a low carb section at the end of this post.

Trader Joe’s Chocolate Hummus

I remember first seeing the concept for dessert hummus from a company featured on Shark Tank and I was definitely intrigued. So I was all for trying Trader Joe’s new chocolate hummus. Chocolate is such a strong flavor that it can mask most ingredients like avocado, tofu, etc. So it works here as well.

The hummus still has the texture of classic hummus and you can detect a little bit of the chickpea flavor, but for the most part, this is a deeply rich chocolate dip that is sweet but not overly sweet. I like the rich chocolate flavor and quite enjoyed this.

Trader Joe’s Ketchup Flavored Spud Crunchies

I was so excited when I heard about this new product that I bought three bags without trying one first. I love ketchup flavored chips. I got to try them several years ago from friends who brought me some from Canada and have been obsessed ever since.

Trader Joe’s version is pretty good. I do wish they had a slightly stronger tangy tomato flavor, but I would still get these again.

Trader Joe’s Gluten Free Rice Crumbs

This is a gluten-free substitute for panko breadcrumbs. You can sprinkle this on fish, chicken, etc, to create a crispy “breading.” I usually use prefer panko, but it’s nice to see that there is a good gluten-free alternative.

Trader Joe’s Cocoa Crunch Cereal

Not a new item, but it was featured at my local Trader Joe’s to fit with the back-to-school theme.

I love the satisfying crunch this cereal has and it’s not too sweet. My one issue with this is that the size of each cereal piece is a little too small to make it convenient to grab and eat one by one, which I often like to do with cereal as a snack. I feel the same way about their Joe’s O’s.

Trader Joe’s Dried Baby Sweet Pineapple

These are so darn cute. I already love dried pineapple and the mini version is so cute and the perfect snacking size.

Trader Joe’s Vanilla Mochi

After really enjoying the revamped version of Trader Joe’s Matcha Mochi, I’ve been wanting to make my way through all of their classic flavors. The vanilla one has the same delightful chewy mochi dough skin that the matcha one does but the ice cream wasn’t my favorite. I found the vanilla ice cream filling a little bit icy.

Trader Joe’s Blueberry Streusel Bread

I’ve been so in love with Trader Joe’s pancake bread that I don’t usually stop to check out the other bakery offerings. But seeing the word “streusel” in the name sold me.

The bread is actually traditional bread rather than the quick bread (basically cake) that is usually associated with blueberry bread or streusel bread.

Pictured above is about half a loaf. I left the rest inside the bag. I toasted the bread slices before eating them.

I liked the bread itself and the little bursts of blueberries inside. However, I thought the streusel tasted more like a glaze or icing poured over the bread.

Trader Joe’s Roasted Corn

Not a new item but one I wanted to highlight because there are not many brands that sell frozen roasted corn. I’ve been using it to make my Mexican Corn Salad Dip whenever I don’t have fresh corn on hand.

Low Carb Products at Trader Joe’s

I didn’t find as many new-to-me low carb products this month, but here are a few. If you’re looking for more, you can check out my previous Trader Joe’s monthly haul posts like my July and June editions.

Trader Joe’s Italian Bomba Hot Pepper Sauce

This hot pepper sauce features fermented crushed Calabrian peppers. The sauce definitely packs quite a spicy punch so be careful when using this. I do enjoy the flavor though and think this will pair well with grilled fish or roasted vegetables.

Trader Joe’s Roasted Cocoa Nibs

These unsweetened cocoa nibs are crunchy and slightly bitter. I like crunching on them for an afternoon snack. They remind me of eating chocolate espresso beans. They also would work well sprinkled on top of a rich chocolate dessert.

Trader Joe’s Raw Almond Butter

Not a new item and one I’ve discussed before, but I recently stocked up on more. There are not many raw almond butter options out there so I really love that Trader Joe’s offers one. This almond butter is so creamy and easier to stir than their roasted almond butter. I love spreading this on bread and using it in baked goods.

That’s all for now! As always, let me know if you have any new favorites you think I should try! I’m looking forward to trying the new Trader Joe’s light ice cream. You can also read my previous July haul here.
