This is an easy fudge recipe. You only need two ingredients and about five minutes to prepare. The chocolate fudge comes out very creamy, chewy and fudgy. It is great for a quick dessert or for gifting.

I love making fudge this time of year. It works great as a treat for myself, something to gift to a friend, or something to bring to a party. I’ve shared a few easy fudge recipes over the years but this may be the easiest.

Ingredients

  • Bittersweet chocolate chips
  • Condensed milk

Condensed milk is the key to this recipe. Traditional fudge is made with sugar, butter, milk and cocoa powder, cooked over the stove and reduced down. Condensed milk is milk and sugar already reduced down. By using condensed milk, you save time, ingredients, and extra cooking steps. Make sure to use full fat sweetened condensed milk. Condensed milk is the key to the fudge texture. It gives the dessert its fudgy and creamy texture. Don’t have condensed milk or looking for a nondairy version? I’ve also made fudge with almond butter. It’s a little bit of a healthier fudge and not as sweet but also very enjoyable.

You can use bittersweet or semisweet chocolate chips for this recipe. I chose bittersweet because the fudge is already very sweet with the condensed milk added. But if you don’t mind very sweet fudge, semi-sweet chocolate will also work.

How to Make 2 Ingredient Fudge

The ingredients are combined in a mixing bowl, heated in the microwave and stirred until chocolate is melted and a uniform smooth batter forms. You want to make sure that the condensed milk is fully incorporated into the melted chocolate (there should be no white streaks). If you don’t want to use a microwave, this can also be done on the stove using the double boiler method.

Then pour the batter into a baking pan and place into the fridge until set. That’s it!

Ingredients

  • 2 cups (352 g) bittersweet chocolate chips (or one 12-oz bag)
  • 1 1/4 cup (380 g) sweetened condensed milk (or one 14 oz can)

Instructions

  • Line an 8 x 8 inch baking pan with parchment paper.
  • Add ingredients to a large microwave-safe mixing bowl. Heat in microwave at full power in 30 second intervals, stirring in between, until chocolate is completely melted and mixture becomes uniform in color and smooth. Make sure the condensed milk is fully incorporated into the fudge batter and there are no streaks of condensed milk.
  • Pour batter into prepared pan. Rap the bottom of the pan against your counter a few times to eliminate any air bubbles and level the fudge batter.
  • Place fudge into fridge until set. The fudge is ready when it feels firm to the touch. This can take 30 minutes to an hour. Cut fudge with a sharp knife.

Notes

  • 1 1/4 cup condensed milk is the amount contained in one 14 oz can so you don't need to measure it out if you have a 14 oz can.
  • 2 cups chocolate chips is the equivalent of a 12 oz bag of chocolate chips so you don't need to measure it out if you have a 12 oz bag.
  • The fudge batter starts setting pretty quickly so make sure you don't let it sit out in your mixing bowl. As soon as you are done mixing, pour it into your prepared pan.

  19. So excited about trying your reciped

  20. Could you use any flavor “candy” chips and make many flavors? For example, would butterscotch chips (I use in my waffles) or white chocolate chips? Would that work? I need butterscotch fudge, I think that would be amazing… I think I need to try this, I will report back.

Thanks for sharing, I have been stalking your page for most of the day and am excited to see all the other things.

    • We like it with bittersweet chocolate because the fudge isn’t overly sweet. We haven’t tried other kinds of baking chips, but they should work – just keep in mind that some may set up with a different texture (not as soft, etc). If you try different flavors please let us know how it goes!

    • Did you try using different flavors yet? Really curious.

    • I have made fudge this way for years. I add 1 TBSP of vanilla as well and have used different flavors of chips. Some chips are a bit drier (peanut butter/butterscotch) so you may want to add more condensed milk, vanilla or add some melted butter. I have layered flavors, mixed flavors…and added flavored liquors (you could use flavored extracts)…it is easy to play around with

  21. Can I add nuts?

  22. Can this be done with other chip flavors without changing the amounts? My family loves various flavors of fudge and itd be so esay to have one simple recipe for all

    • We haven’t tried other chips, but it should work – just keep in mind some are very sweet and so your fudge will be sweet. Also, depending on the kind of chips you use the fudge may have a different texture. Let us know if you try t!

  23. Can you add. Coconut or nuts????

  24. Delicious recipe and so easy.  Is there a trick to remove the fudge from the parchment paper without getting messy?

    • We haven’t had a problem with the parchment paper – if the fudge is not fully set, it could get messy so make sure to chill it until it is firm. Also make sure to use a brand name parchment paper like Reynolds. We’ve heard from other readers that some other cheaper parchment papers don’t work as they should and cause things to stick.

  25. This is the easiest and the best fudge ever ! Making it as Xmas gifts for my favorite coworkers.??????

  26. Thank you for this great recipe

  27. This is my go-to chocolate craving satisfaction achieved solution. I’ve been using the 3-ingredients version as I like to add 1 tsp extract for flavour. Successful with maple and vanilla extracts. Peppermint may have been too old as it barely came through. I have to try Almond again as 1 tsp was overpowering. Up here the pacaging is 300g and I find it needs the extra chips for solidification. Also note that i dont bother with the pan as its too much work. I dump the bowl full on a large piece of parchment paper and fold over the side on top and use my rolling pin to spread it thinner. This way when i cut it, the parchment can stay on the bottom and pieces can then be stacked. Enjoy!

  28. Sounds like something I might try tomorrow!!

  29. The fudge turned out great. Not as sweet as some other I have made

  42. MADE this for myself….delicious! I’m now ready to share, maybe.

  43. would I be able to use something like a chocolate bar mould to make the fudge shape?

  44. I think you mean SWEETENED condensed milk. So as to avoid confusion with evaporated milk.

  45. How sweet is this recipe? Can you use Milk Chocolate morsels? I love See’s Milk Chocolate, Soft Center truffles and chocolates (I just wish a pound wasn’t so expensive now a days!)

    Thanks, Robert

    • We recommend using bittersweet or semisweet chocolate chips for this recipe. We like bittersweet because the fudge is already very sweet with the condensed milk added. But if you don’t mind very sweet fudge, semi-sweet chocolate will also work.

    • I make one batch with 60% cacao Ghirardelli chips and one batch with Ghirardelli milk chocolate chips, both are great and not to sweet. Ghirardelli chips also makes it the smoothest fudge I’ve ever had

  46. This is awesome. What if I added some bourbon, would that work at all? What’s your suggestion?

    • We haven’t tried that – adding extra liquid could change the texture or the fudge might not set up right, so keep that in mind if you try it.

  47. Love your recipes. Quick and simple. Thank you
