We recently revisited Nomad Donuts. We’ve been really interested in all the new and unique flavor combinations they’ve come up with.
Much like our initial visit, donuts are displayed on books, which I find so endearing.
There are more than a dozen flavors offered per day, including a few vegan options too.
It was so hard to choose from the gorgeous rainbow of colors, but we finally settled on three.
Taro Ube Coconut
This was one of my favorites. The donut itself was light and fluffy, just like how a good yeast donut should be. It was covered in a purple glaze that tasted very much of taro, ube and coconut.
Honeydew Mint Prosciutto
This was another favorite of mine. It was like biting into summer, with the light and melony flavor.
Rosewater Pomegranate
Of the three, this was my least favorite mainly because of the tartness from the pomegranate. It was still enjoyable though and Mr. K really loved it.
Overall, we had a really nice visit here. When we first visited shortly after they had opened, they were still working out some kinks and the dough of the donuts wasn’t very consistent. Now it seems they have definitely settled in and are churning out delicious donuts with really unique flavors. This may be our new favorite gourmet donut shop in San Diego. We can’t wait to stop in again to try more.
My initial post can be found here.

I’ve been hearing all about ube in donuts and even desserts with flan sitting on top (I think it’s an ube leche flan cake?). Actually just watched a video about ube donuts a couple days ago!! Strange that I didn’t get to try ube at all when I was in the Philippines :/

I think I’ve seen the flan dessert you’re talking about!
Honeydew mint! Wow, these are some really unique flavors. Sounds very promising, despite the price tag.
Yeah I really like the unique flavors! And I don’t think $3-4 is too bad considering how unique these are
Oh my goodness these donuts are drool-worthy. I like their creativity with each donut flavor! Thank you for sharing your food adventures!
they were super tasty!
Nomad is my favorite donut shop as well. I really like the variety of flavors and it’s always a challenge to choose just a few.
I really wanted to try them all! maybe next time i’ll have some sort of donut party where I can get a bunch and taste test more.
Well put me on the guest list then!????
haha, yes definitely!
Four dollars for a donut?
I can’t wait for this hipster trend to end.
Yes they do range between $3-$4, but these aren’t regular donuts. The flavors require ingredients that cost more and thus the higher price.
