4 Ingredient No Bake Healthier Peanut Butter Bars (No Wheat Flour, Eggs, Refined Sugar, Dairy, or Oil)
These healthier no bake peanut butter bars are creamy and sweet. They only need 4 ingredients and don’t contain any wheat flour, eggs, refined sugar, dairy, or oil. They are easy to make and don’t require any baking.

These peanut butter bars make a great snack or dessert. They are like chocolate peanut butter cups, but in easy bar form. The bars taste just like the filling of Reese’s peanut butter cups, but made with healthier ingredients.
Ingredients
- Peanut butter
- Coconut flour
- Maple syrup
- Dark chocolate
Peanut butter: These bars use unsweetened natural peanut butter with no added oils. Make sure to use natural peanut butter. The peanut butter mixture will not set if you use regular peanut butter with added oils.
Coconut flour: A little coconut flour is added to help thicken the peanut butter mixture and add texture.
Maple syrup: Maple syrup is used to sweeten the peanut butter bars. When the maple syrup is mixed with the peanut butter, it also thickens the peanut butter.
Dark chocolate: Melted dark chocolate is added on top of the peanut butter. I used 60% cocoa dark chocolate chips.
How to Make No Bake Peanut Butter Bars
- Add peanut butter, coconut flour, and maple syrup to a mixing bowl and mix together until evenly combined.
- Spread the mixture into your prepared baking pan and freeze for about 5 minutes.
- Melt dark chocolate in the microwave or on the stove. Pour the melted chocolate over the peanut butter mixture.
- Place into the fridge until set.
- If desired, you can also garnish with coarse salt, but this is optional.
Expert Tips
- Make sure to use natural peanut butter with no added oils. The peanut butter will not set if you use regular peanut butter or peanut butter with added oils.
- You can also use semisweet or milk chocolate for the chocolate layer if you don’t like dark chocolate.

4 Ingredient No Bake Healthier Peanut Butter Bars
Ingredients
- 2 cups (512g) unsweetened natural peanut butter with no added oils
- 5 tbsp (2.5fl oz/74ml) maple syrup
- 6 tbsp (38g) coconut flour
- 1 cup (168g) dark chocolate chips
Instructions
- Line an 8-inch square baking dish with parchment paper, leaving some overhang for easy removal.
- In a medium bowl, mix together the peanut butter, maple syrup, and coconut flour until evenly combined. The mixture should be thick.
- Press the mixture evenly into the lined pan. Freeze for about 5-10 minutes, or until firm on the surface.
- Meanwhile, melt the chocolate chips in a microwave-safe bowl in 30-second intervals, stirring in between with a silicone spatula, until the chocolate is melted and smooth. You can also melt the chocolate on the stove using the double boiler method.
- Pour the melted chocolate over the peanut butter layer and spread evenly across with an offset spatula.
- Place the bars in the fridge and chill for 2-3 hours (or overnight), or until the chocolate is set and the bars are firm enough to cut.
- Lift the bars out of the pan using the parchment and cut the bars with a sharp knife.
- Store bars in an airtight container in the fridge or freezer. These can be eaten straight out of the fridge or at room temperature.
Notes
- Peanut butter note: Make sure to use a peanut butter with no added oils. The recipe will not work if the peanut butter has added oils. There are some peanut butters that are labeled "natural" or "natural style" but still contain added oils so make sure to check the ingredients label. I used Kirkland Organic Peanut Butter*.
- Chocolate: I used bittersweet chocolate chips for the top layer. You can use other chocolate for the top layer such as or semisweet, milk or white chocolate (assuming you don't need the bars to be dairy-free).
- I used Bob's Red Mill coconut flour.*

Excellent
Thank you!
I’m afraid after two hours in the fridge, I cut into the bars and the chocolate shattered across the top, basically ruining the batch. I really don’t know how to rectify it without putting the whole pan in the oven, but they aren’t party-worthy as is. I may try again and let the chocolate set at room temp – I might have better luck. I checked comments to see if anyone had the same problem, but apparently they didn’t.
I’m sorry you had this problem. I didn’t have this issue. Usually melted chocolate made from chocolate chips tends to set soft, and especially if you add coconut oil, so that you should be able to cut in without it shattering. My guess is that is may be the brand of chocolate you used.
Could you substitute honey for maple syrup?
Honey does not thicken the peanut butter mixture as much as maple syrup does so your mixture will likely be too soft if you use honey
Loved it, but I must confess, purchase quinoa pop for another recipe, and edit a couple of it to the mix. So I have a little extra protein and a bit more volume in the bars. (and I have the recipe, for my sake.) I purchased a quinoa pop online. Had a nice crunch to it. I think even my grandkids will like it. I know that changes it to five ingredients. Thanks for the recipe!!!
thank you for sharing!
Easy to make and fantastic to eat! Thanks for the wonderful recipe!
I’m so glad you enjoy them!
This was so fast & easy! When I have a craving for something sweet this will be my go to! I used Lily’s chocolate chips instead(2 cups), maple farm groves sugar free syrup, & only had Skippy’s natural peanut-butter on me, I poured the excess palm oil out the top, turned out fantastic, just like the picture. Now when I’m looking at all my husbands carb filled snacks, I’ll just make this! Around half the carbs with the lilys & sugar free syrup. Great job! so simple!
Thank you for sharing! So glad you like them as much as I do!

These no-bake peanut butter bars look so delicious, I really would love to try this recipe and thanks so much for sharing it.???
Hope you enjoy!
Thank you Kirbie, I will try this recipe. Can I sub any other flour as opposed to coconut flour? Thanks again Denise
I found coconut flour worked best when testing these. It can be made with other flours like almond flour but it won’t be a 1:1 substitution. The ingredient ratios would be different.
Can I use almond flour for this recipe? Sounds delicious.
I found that coconut flour worked best for getting a texture similar to the filling in peanut butter cups. It can be made with almond flour but it’s not a 1:1 substitution.
Thank you, I might give almond flour a try
Let us know how it goes!
They look good too bad I can’t eat them allergic to coconut and don’t like maple
You could try our peanut butter truffles which many people have stated tastes like Reese’s. It doesn’t contain coconut but we do use a little maple. https://kirbiecravings.com/4-ingredient-healthier-peanut-butter-truffles/
