Snooze

Snooze remains one of our favorite brunch spots, mainly because of the pancake flight and the eggs benedict. Since my post on the grand opening, this place has become ridiculously popular, with the wait somewhere between 30 minutes to an hour on weekends.

I don’t usually like to wait, but we have friends visiting who were on their “babymoon” and both FH and I really wanted to take them to Snooze. By the time we sat down, we were starving. We decided to order several things from the menu and share.

Eggs Bennies. Snooze lets you mix and match, so we chose the Bella! Bella! Benny (Thin slices of prosciutto, Taleggio cheese, and  poached eggs on toasted ciabatta, topped with cream cheese hollandaise, balsamic glaze and arugula) and Chilaquiles Benedict (Carne asada steak served on a cheesy, saucy, tortilla stack topped with poached Niman Ranch eggs, smoked cheddar hollandaise, fresh salsa and cotija cheese.)

The Bella! Bella!  was pretty to look at but I wasn’t as fond of the taste or that it sat on the ciabatta bread. I liked the Chilaquiles  better. I also really liked the potato hash which was very crispy. Basically as crispy as you can get without deep frying it.  Looking back at old pictures, it looks like the hash recipe has changed. I don’t remember if I liked it before, but I like this new version.

Havana Daydreaming (Free-range house pulled pork, sliced ham, jack cheese, homemade pickles and a sunny side egg (or your call) with Dijon hollandaise served open face on a hoagie roll)
We didn’t get the sunny side up egg because we wanted the baby mama to enjoy the sandwich too. Still tasted good with the scrambled egg.

Snooze Breakfast Burrito (Filled with scrambled eggs, hash browns, house black beans, cheddar & jack cheese, topped with salsa fresca and your choice of green chili or ranchero)

This burrito was full of all sorts of breakfast goodness and was big and filling.

OMG! French Toast (Fresh brioche stuffed with mascarpone, then griddled and topped with vanilla crème, salted caramel, agave soaked strawberries and toasted coconut.)

A little too sweet for me. The Mission is still my favorite for French toast.

Pancake Flight: Red velvet, blueberry crumble, pancake of the day (something with cranberry filling)

It’s definitely a better deal to get the pancake flight rather than individual flavors. The pancakes on the flight are still big and fluffy and definitely meant for sharing. The red velvet still remains my favorite. I enjoyed the blueberry topped with streusel too. I wasn’t as much of a fan of the cranberry.

Overall, we were pretty happy with the food. I wish they took reservations and I’d be here more often.  I think the overall brunch menu is a little better at The Mission, but I really love the pancakes here and FH really loves the eggs benedict. You can read my previous post on Snooze here.

  1. I love Snooze! If they took reservations, we’d be there all the time. As it is, we only go when I know we can get there early in the morning.

I liked the OMG french toast, but that may be because I got a half order (they let you do half orders of french toast & eggs bennies) with a side of corned beef hash (you can pretty much ask for a side of anything).

The hash recipe definitely seems like it’s changed for the better… yours looked extra crispy, too. Mmm…

    • Yeah I’d be there every weekend if they took reservations. For a while I got lucky. My siblings went at various times after I raved about it and I’d ask them to get me stuff to go, so I didn’t have to wait. This time the wait was an hour. Ugh. I didn’t know you could do half order of french toast and mix it up. I’ve only done half and half on the eggs. Yeah the hash was really yummy.

  2. That’s such a cute name for a restaurant!

  3. Ok I was looking at the pancakes at the end but meant to say the POTATO hash, haha

    • A pancake hash actually sounds really good right now..All the crispy edges of a pancake put together.Hmmm..

  4. Yay for Snooze! That pancake hash looks great!
